  1. OMG they should still make this. Beautiful and I'd buy one for sure! Just maybe lose the denim seats.

The only Nissans I ever see are Leafs, Micra, Jukes & Cashcows… URGH! 🤮

  2. Stop showing GHOSN. NISSAN made him a criminal. Also, NISSAN is doomed until they get rid of CVTs. I don’t care what you say, that is the reason No one buys them. Car companies should build car that last forever. People will buy them. The CVT has killed the brand’s reputation.

  3. The IDX was the first Nissan that I had actually seriously considered since the 2004 Sentra SE-R Spec V. No other Nissan product has interested me since. I am sure there have been many other car enthusiast that took their money else. Not everyone one is interested in a BRZ /FRS or Miata.

  4. I grew up rowing my own gears in used, small RWD sport coupes from Germany and Japan I too was extremely excited at the prospect of the IDx. On top of those I've owned a Z32 and my wife currently drives a last gen Xterra Pro-4X (also manual). I've given up on Nissan's ability to turn out a reasonably affordable, fun, RWD coupe. Shame.

They want to talk about building "volume" cars but that's what the 510 was back in the day. Nobody is enthralled in your crappy FWD, CVT lineup. I'd rather buy a BRZ than any comparably priced Nissan.

  5. I remember something about the IDX being super cheap, and then they said the price was gonna be high and not worth making. A cheap RWD 2 door was gonna be insane for us normies. And then cancelled. The nismo was the best looking one….

I would love if these brands stopped the futuristic bubble car bullshit and made more classic/square looking cars. The whole "aerodynamics to improve fuel economy" is a lie. its a lie. period. it doesn't change shit. aero is really only for high speed driving and to give you downforce for grip, as the reverse would mean pulling the car up at high speed lowering grip and causing crashes. as long as you aren't trying to make the aero plane-esk you are fine. a square looking classic that is cheap, front engine and rear wheel drive, manual trans for us normal car enthusiasts while offering the auto for the basic bitch market, and a fair price, would dominate. but all the brands keep pushing EV, SUV/TRUCK, and expensive trash that no one wants or can afford.

  6. This is why Honda and Toyota are in front of them. I know the market plays a significant role but these 2 take risks and they are not immune to failure as well. Kudos to Honda for the Acura Type S and Civic Type R.

  7. It's insane to me how almost every car company now (because this isn't just a Nissan thing) will make these incredible, jaw dropping prototypes as if to go "Oh yeah, we still got it." with huge fanfare from consumers past and present, only to go "what's that? You want us to produce this car rather than the mostly ugly designs we're going with? Uuuh.. guess you just want more big SUV's and 4x4s then?"
The only car in recent time that I genuinely can't complain about is the 400Z, because that is a gorgeous car that is also reminiscent of the older models from the 60's and 70's, as it honestly should be.

  8. I was telling my son about this car today, one of my most frustrating memories as a Datsun guy. I have a 510 and a 280z. I have no faith they will create it. Also, I know it may be blasphemy, but, as a FWD car the iDX would have been fun, like an original Sentra SE-R.

  9. this could hit so many demographics though. New enthusiasts learning to customize with some ease and affordability, folks learning about the process, economically disabled folks who can actually repair their own vehicles… If they were a bit more versatile, as in parts underneath as well as body panels, the demographics could be absolutely wild. And given that they could essentially just send a bunch of frames and parts, shipping these vehicles would be an even more cost reducing process. It's a win for nissan, win for consumers, just positive all around. thennn… nope, oh well too bad bye rocco
