Let’s keep it real.—Even non-FBA black people think lowly about black Americans, thinking that we are not intelligent or capable and underestimate us. Heck, we even underestimate our own people. We get called “lazy” and “stupid” when we don’t try to excel, and we get hit with jealousy, shock and skepticism when we do try and do well.—Especially when better than an white or Asian person😂
The sad part is that not only whites act shocked, but black americans have been equally baffled that all the Nigerians in my home town in NY were all on the honor and high honor roll semester after semester. And Africans rarely if ever got teased by white students about our hair and clothing, thread or cornrows, it was black american kids. My sister and I were completely bullied by BLACK kids, not whites. That is my truth. Not saying white people don't have their issues, definitely experienced lots of racism in corporate amerikkka, but the reality is the cruelty came from black people all the way up through college. Black people tend to treat ourselves worse than any other race can ever. And this is global.
Regarding the term black", ask yourself, what country on the globe is called "Blackistan"? I'll wait. We are the only race that embraces being dehumanized to a term that isn't even a color, as far as I was always told, so much because many people refuse to be called African. I am MORE THAN BLACK. I'm YORUBA, Nigerian, etc…. people, do you your DNA and find out what tribe/ethnic group you are, and stop allowing people to erase your humanity completely.
My professors will look at my work and stare at me endlessly with a great deal of puzzlement as the conflict of their entrenched prejudice against Africans and the reality of African excellence confronting them in real time rages on in their heads.
