Nigeria flooding: Dam collapse sends water surging into Maiduguri

Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes in Borno State in northeast Nigeria after a dam failed, causing major flooding.
Bridges, roads, and houses were destroyed and several areas cut off.
Officials say the collapse of the dam near Maiduguri could lead to an increase in waterborne diseases.

  1. Al Jazeera have you ever reported anything good from Maiduguri? It's the first time I saw your report from my State ..be fare report also the positive things not just Nagetive pls

  2. This the state of the current Vice President. The authorities are bold enough to say that they don't have boats and equipment necessary for rescuing activities, yet they have money to purchase brand new presidential jet, the 6th jet. The authorities also have billions of naira to build to construct new villa for the vice president. Na my turn, vote for my brother, the V.P, that was the slogan during the last presidential election. Now see, your brother in power has suddenly abandoned you. In 2027, they would need your support again and the cycle of suffering continues. una mumu never do?

  3. It wouldn't have been worse if they had taken the measure earlier and tackle the issues .But whatever may be the case, let us keep praying and submit everything to God we can't escape our Destiny.😢😢😢😢

  4. Unfortunately Nigeria is ill equipped for flooding emergency response plan!!!! Instead of wasting away brain cells and valuable time revising our national anthem and further acquiring aircrafts, funds should be directed to deal with matters of great importance such as flood preparedness and response plan among other pressing matters such as poverty alleviation and insecurity! Now all we can do is to raise our phones, capture terrifying moments, make commentaries as we confine ourselves to solitude prayers!
Northern Nigeria has suffered a great deal of trials and tribulations simply from the lack of appropriate effort from our government.

  5. Flood is a symbol of the judgement of God Almighty on evil. Like the flood of Noah! Borno State is the home of Kashim Shettima the Muslim Muslim Vice President of Nigeria and also the home of the Islamic Jihadists Terrorists group Boko Haram!
