Nigeria flooding: Dam collapse sends water surging into Maiduguri
Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes in Borno State in northeast Nigeria after a dam failed, causing major flooding.
Bridges, roads, and houses were destroyed and several areas cut off.
Officials say the collapse of the dam near Maiduguri could lead to an increase in waterborne diseases.

Unfortunately Nigeria is ill equipped for flooding emergency response plan!!!! Instead of wasting away brain cells and valuable time revising our national anthem and further acquiring aircrafts, funds should be directed to deal with matters of great importance such as flood preparedness and response plan among other pressing matters such as poverty alleviation and insecurity! Now all we can do is to raise our phones, capture terrifying moments, make commentaries as we confine ourselves to solitude prayers!
