Nigeria cost of living crisis: Fuel now five times more expensive than last year

Nigeria is facing a cost of living crisis.
Fuel is five times as expensive than last year – when President Bola Tinubu took power.
He’s scrapped petrol subsidies, as part of a sweeping reform programme, driving up the cost of food and other every day goods.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from the capital, Abuja.

  1. Why are we dodging the obvious? Corruption is the main problem, internal sabotage, massive looting of the Naira and mass convert of the Naira to the dollar to steal and move money out to Europe. This current president is the commander in theft in Nigeria. Bunch of thieves. Let's all rot together here, we will boil both us and the rich.

  2. Why do they only go to the north when reporting about Nigeria, its so weird,we speak English in the south, west, and east!!!!
Omg.if i wasnt Nigerian, from all these reports,id think nigeria is Muslim country and every woman wears a hijab

  3. The cost of living in that country is the lowest in this continent, even their petrol is cheap…it just goes to show how bad the state of living is, if people cant afford petrol under 1$ 😢 Prayers to Nigerians

  4. We have a failed economy, failed government and extreme corrupt politicians who choose stealing over well-being of it masses. No future in Nigeria, everything is hopeless

  5. Nigeria top 5 cheapest fuel prices in Africa and top 10 cheapest prices in world right now both foods, clothing, housing and other things so why we Nigerians like complaining,Go to other countries many of them are sleeping in streets no food,no jobs

  6. The ex convicted drugs kingpin Bola ahmed tinubu and his ashawo wife calling herself a pastor are clueless persons who do not have any plans to revive the economy of the country. They wanted to rule nigeria by force to enable them to steal their own share of our natural cake. Ever since oluremi tinubu took office of first leader, has she made any positive contribution to the economy or citizens of nigeria?

  7. But y'all give your natural gas and oil to Europeans so they can keep the lights on. And to no benefit to yourselves, think I'm exaggerating, WATCH THE VIDEO. 🤦‍♂️🦧

  8. We Nigerians unfortunately have given power to bad government and leader. But we can take it back n I no lives will go and blood will be shed if we finally decide to make the move

  9. Democracy is plight of Africa at large, all our leaders is corrupted to the core, non of them care about of the citizens at all, they earn nothing less that 900 million in a tenure, they are thieves.
