I dont even understand Nigeria because they have only won African Cup 3 times. They are behind Egypt, Cameroun and Ghana in the most won African Cup of Nations
The coach did not change the formation even after the South Africa match which showed that everyone on the continent had studied Nigeria's game plan.
He also didn't use fresh, experienced players on the bench. The reason why countries use 5-4-1 consistently is BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE ATTACKING TALENT. Nigeria currently has a platoon of attackers and could easily could have played 4-3-3 and swapping the front 3 attackers with each half.
The players also succumbed to pressure, the boys were frazzled losing their tempers and literally not coordinating at all. Even Nwabali lost his cool, which I think made him leave his line that caused the equaliser goal.
In particular, Iwobi, Zaidu and Bassey were poor, especially Iwobi who looked tired, exhausted and slow.
It was a horrible showing and I hope we just hire a Dutch coach who understands attacking football. It seems that the Portuguese only know how to defend.
We missed a great opportunity to lift the cup this year, we will not be so lucky to have it easy going forward.

I have to laugh. Nigeria waa never the best country in this tournament; that was Senegal, Mali and Cape Verde. The eagles' game this tournament has always lacked passion and fortitude, at least you had the ability to score and then close off, defend until the end, but that's just boring football imo. Côte d'Ivoire may not have started well but we literally put ourselves up by the bootstraps and gave a thrilling and impassioned football to make our people proud, which we succeeded at. Nigeria was cheated. The organisers knew very well that Nigeria doesn't have light yet they chose to play the match in the evening. How will they see and play the ball? The organisers should have provided each Nigerian Player with a torch light.
Our coach cost us the cup.
Iwobi cost us the cup.
Chukwueze cost us the cup.
Aina cost us the cup.
Referees cost us the cup.
All African countries cost us the cup.
