Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso announce withdrawal from ECOWAS
Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have withdrawn from the West African bloc ECOWAS.
They accuse the group of imposing ‘inhumane’ sanctions in response to the recent coups in their countries.
ECOWAS says it has not been notified of their decision.

The BIG PROBLEM with Ecowas is that they were over confident and very rude towards the good initiatives provided to the African continent by China. Today this world is witnessing the sad and humiliating failure of Ecowas. Lesson learnt – when help and support is given to you, always respectfully receive it and do your very best with the help given. ALL of these countries that has failed very miserable (Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso) are very troubled countries with deeply difficult situations. Without the proper and strong support it is beyond difficult to improve and change from this difficult situation.

I'm Nigerian and I support Niger. Nigeria, the current head of ECOWAS and all the other ECOWAS member states do not represent the opinions of ECOWAS nation's citizens. The leaders of ECOWAS should be ashame to take orders from Western Imperialists governments, like the US and the EU against our own brothers, forgetting that they're their own sovereign and independent nations

These weren't 'coups' they were the opposite — these men liberated their countries and peoples from the vicious and endless coups supported by France among others. Long live Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali for this act and for their courage and loyalty to their peoples and their sovereignty. Ecowas is garbage and like all neo-colonial institutions needs to go extinct.
