We have a very dysfunctional Party Politics system and this has brought us to this problem where there exists a rift between the Party President or Leader and the Deputy President / Deputy Leader. It’s true this structure was borrowed from the USA where it had a very long history and this has become fully entrenched in the party political culture in the US. Today, in 2020 Kenya cannot be expected to show case a similarly political culture only under 10 years because in Kenya 🇰🇪 political mobilization is on basis of ethnicity and this will continue for years to come. The DP is simply introducing a new political slogan and basis for political mobilization on the clear divide of the Dynasties vs the Hustlers nations in a nation. This is purely an economic strategy and of course it cuts across the tribes from the Coastal Region to the Northern Region and from Lake Victoria to Gharisa which will resonate very well with a majority of economically marginalized in our society. This totally disrupts the old structural system where politicians survived by setting tribes against tribes and as you can imagine the DP is causing so much agony to these older politicians especially is they want to run for national positions. It’s because of this threat that there is a huge effort to frustrate the DP and water down the Hustlers nation vs the Dynasties nation reference point. I am not sure if this strategy will necessarily help the mindset of the majority poor and COVID-19 pandemic has not helped the situation either, benefiting the hustlers.
Linus, the word coup was introduced through a question by the media…….why do you have selective hearing? I am not sure the absence of the president in the country was a motivator because he is not domiciled at the Jubilee Hq where the DP and his Jubilee friends and members visited and held a meeting. Even if the president was at State House, this visit would still have happened. Otherwise, had this visit happened at State House, then you could associate this with a coup. It’s not rocket science that Uhuru and Ruto are not longer in synch and you can theorize for days and nights who is to blame. Obviously, the buck stops with Uhuru as they party leader and when he opted to pursue his legacy alone with the help of Raila at the expense of his relationship with Ruto was a clear signal ‘Things Had Fallen Apart’ and the party membership was confused. As long as leaders and journalist are afraid of calling out anyone who makes social or political errors, then this ‘cat and mouse’ chase game will continue and may be the media likes it that way because they can create content for their benefit. The hypocrisy that is all around the leadership across the board and the fearful media does not auger well for a nation that needs to be honest and transparent with its citizens. The reaction by those pro-Uhuru minions MPs Wambogo of Nyeri Town and his Kieni counterpart that called out the DP for what they perceived as absconding duty is embarrassing because it shows how little they understand the Constitutional provision of the presidency. Being invited to a function does not precipitate attendance and nobody has confirmed that Uhuru and the DP had not spoken on phone that morning before they decided the DP was undermining his boss. Worse still, was the unsolicited remarks by the self declared hater of the DP Mr. David Murathee in his only known employee role of a returnee Party Vice Chairman for Jubilee went overboard to suggest that the DP has intimated he was at the cliff edge. These are sort of comments that go into questioning the intents of these loud mouths. I am sure as we get into the weekend, the Sunday luncheon trips to KAJIADO will resume because the DP has given the usual suspects sufficient fodder for them to discuss and ensure a clear video is taken and sent to France as evidence they have not for a moment lost grip monitoring the DP’s activities while the boss is away.
