New Zealand tightens visa rules: Govt says migration levels are 'unsustainable'

New Zealand’s government is reducing the number of migrant workers it accepts.
The new visa restrictions are a way to get more locals into employment and ease inflation.
But the change in policy will leave some workers and employers
worried about their future.

As Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Auckland.

  1. Guess they finally got sick of the body odor. Because 99% of the immigrants come from one stinking worthless country which i won't name but we all know which one it is.

  2. They need mostly wifable maids for them to make a maid in their own house preferably filipina, this why I prefer for PH to make less babies so we don't get to force ourselves to work outside be on the risk of exploitation outside

  3. Keep in mind that there are 173,000 immigrants in New Zealand…..legal or not….solely because the New Zealand government let them in….intentionally.

Just like the U.S. 12 million mopes from over 100 countries…..all illegal immigrants….are in the U.S. because
the U.S. Government let them in….intentionally.

If you want to see an account of a dangerously high percentage and mind numbing number of actual "lawful immigrants" who are let in – SOLELY as cheap labour….look at Switzerland. The Swiss Government did it intentionally, too..

If only you could all only see what has happened to the U.K., Sweden and France. All done intentionally. It is horrible in every developed / industrialized nation in the world.

  4. The Asians are upset because instead of the relative paradise of NZ they’ll need to head back to the unpleasant UAE or elsewhere in the Gulf to make money.

  5. My sister has tons of experience in cleaning she applied for the same job with her friend it is a Filipino cleaning business she got rejected because she's a kiwi we should definitely kick business owners out like that

  6. There was a govt temp work visa scheme that fast tracked work visa's for migrants, this is being repealed and I would say probably what this story should have been about. It has been found that there was a high level of abuse of this program which took advantage of the workers for the employers benefit, couple that with a recession and the program has been stopped. NZ businesses, mostly small business like the first interviewee pay the absolute minimum possible, kiwis don't want to be exploited to work for less than it costs to live so we don't take those jobs unless absolutely necessary. It's time to report the news not tell stories, NZ has a problem with low wages in a global economy, bad business decisions in 08 caused big buy in from forgien investors and now profits go offshore and wages stay low but nobody wants to address that.
