A rare earthquake has hit New Jersey, rattling buildings in New York City and its surrounding areas.
The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude-4.8 quake’s epicentre was just north-east of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.
It hit at about 10:20 local time (15:20 GMT). There are no reports of major damage.

There was a time when I lived in Manhattan. It was the first earthquake in New York in about 120 years. If you live in New Jersey or New York, the 4.8 magnitude earthquake was a shock, right? In Japan, earthquakes are observed almost every day.

In Japan, where I live, a magnitude of 4 does not make the news.Just the other day, there was a magnitude 6.5 quake, but no one evacuated, and I did not do anything in particular, just thinking, "It's shaking.We have earthquakes almost every day, on a daily basis.
