  1. the 250 prado is overated. the 150 prado is superior mechanically. removing the rear tyre from the boot and ruining the fuel range aint it. its like a fortuner now with better interior.

  2. It seems to me that there there are only two reasons for choosing a Land Cruiser over a Defender 110. One is the international dealer coverage by Toyota which is only really relevant in some market regions. The other and the main one is the relative reliability reputation of the two brands. However, the current 3.0litre engines in the Defender has at least as good a reputation as current Toyota diesel and petrol engines. I would almost class this Land Cruiser more with the VW Amarok and Ford Ranger pickups rather than the 110 in both performance, refinement, equipment provision and even comfort and handling. It is more compact than those pickups of course which may be important to some, particularly for town parking. For more road use there are far better cars, such as the VW Touareg or even a Skoda Kodiak, bearing in mind that the Touareg can tow 3.5 tons while the Kodiak cannot.

  3. Toyota won't sell many of these at £80k + they're retailing for on a popular car buying website.
How is it that the Lexus GX550, which is a posher, rebadged version of this is around about $65k in the USA, but we get charged over £80k for the lesser Toyota badged one?

  4. So ok, a reasonable review, but, and this is my big gripe with motoring correspondents, could you please stop calling what is essentially a UV an SUV. By your own admissions, the Land Cruiser is not fast, it is a workhorse, it is better placed off of the road rather than on it, all of which quite simply make it more of a utility vehicle, and most certainly not a sports vehicle. In fact, I would argue that if you want a sports car, then buy an Aston Martin, Jaguar or something other than a boxy four-by-four.

  5. I don't think that ISIS, Boko Haram or Hizbullah care about ride comfort. Because those are the biggest customers for this car. Toyota sells a car that suits its customers' needs.
