New 2025 VW Jetta & GLI review // Great power and value in both!
This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2025 Volkswagen Jetta and GLI compact sedans. We are in Ann Arbor, Michigan to drive the refreshed 2025 Volkswagen Jetta and GLI!
2025 Volkswagen Jetta and GLI hit dealerships this fall. In a recent US press release a starting price of $21,995 USD was released. Volkswagen US says, the 2025 model…

In the world of mechanics, no-one values turbo-charged engines, since they break down quickly. Do not overstate the fuel economy for this VW. The Corolla gets better fuel economy with a better engine. Made in Japan, of course.
No CVT its a great Deal for me 😅
Will the regular jetta be manual in other markets
Too bad the regular jetta has no manual but thankfully the gli keeps it
Is it better than honda Civic 2025? Also, how is reliability ?? Would love to see a comparison video between Jeeta and Honda Civic.
Thanks for the video.
I'm glad you guys include US info in your video, thank you.
Biased review angle from VW owners. Don't seem like the folk to thrash/trash/toll/troll drive type like myownself. That no spare tire is ridiculous and hazardous. You can buy steel rim with a decent tire especially for Canada and just put a clear big clear bag around it just to be clean (buy a tire iron and spare lug nuts). The tow truck guy will love it truly. The steelys look ghetto without hub covers and scratched but they repainted well they are highly effective. Alloys are expensive and original steel wheel covers are well over 100USD each.
Jetta GLI ❤❤
GLI or Civic Hybrid 2025. Which one would you choose?
If you go for the 1.5 just get the lowest trim. Higher trim is priced too closely to the GLI but it has no mechanical goods (independent suspension, big brakes, diff, EA888 Gen3 + DQ381)
GLI's 18-in wheels are forged too and weigh less than 18 lbs each
How good is manual GLI and what are real world highway mpgs? I drive 124km highway to work and back. Wish they still offer manual in 1.5l as the 24 many got over 48mpg
Back in february 2024, I bought a 2024 Mazda3 Sport GT with the regular 2.5L & 6 speed MT that I love (replacing my 2019 Mazda3 GS with 6 speed MT) but I regret not trying the 2024 Jetta GLI with the 6-speed manual transmission back then. In your opinion, would the Jetta GLI (6 speed MT) have been a better choice than the Mazda3 Sport GT (6 speed MT)??? 🤔
I considered the GLI (I had number of VWs)… but, I went with a 2025 Honda Civic Sport Touring instead. No transmission, no serpentine belts, more low end torque, better fuel economy, no haptic controls, almost the same HP and a bit cheaper in price. I did have to give up the DCC to go to the Civic.
horrible dash. i prefer my 2018 manual Wolfsburg jetta. I absolutely hate tech. waste of money.
So much shiny plastic in that interior.. omg thats bad. The last thing you want to see while driving is light reflecting off shiny plastic objects in the cabin. Also wtf is up with all this capacitive touch controls for things like A/C we want physical controls for this kind of stuff.
These cars look nice, but those interiors are a step backwards. I wish companies would get rid of the shiny plastic, its garbage and its distracting while driving.
Another great review! I’m with Zach. I never understood the black wheel love. Keep up the amazing reviews. Thankful for you 🙏
I have a 2020 Jetta SEL. Has been a very reliable car and is very athletic and Pepe where it needs to be in the low end as well as the top end so great for every day driving in traffic and on the freeway the best part is the fuel economy cannot be beat on five hour plus Highway journeys which I regularly take I’m getting 46 to 47 mpg. In city 32. And the technology is on par with what you would get in the prestige trim level of an Audi. The only downside is does not have the upscale materials on the interior like an Audi, but that is my only gripe. I’m very happy at almost almost 70,000 miles. The new 2025 GLI looks very attractive.
Shame they don't sell the Jetta/GLi here in the UK! Good video
If the GLI had AWD, I would seriously consider it.
Junk. The new Civic Hybrid offers great power and is a better value. Once you factor in VW's poor resale, expensive maintenance and poor reliability, it is a poor value.
Rear torsion beam – what is this 1995? Hard pass.
..and what is the quality? VWs don't have the greatest reputation for lasting. They used to easily last 200k miles back in the day, but now they are engineered with too many computers and cheap plastic.
On my third vw, 2nd Jetta. 2015 Jetta problem free 134k, 2017 golf 65k no problems. 2021 r line, thus far no problems. Father had all sorts of vw my whole life, as reliable as anything else
Old jetta still looks way better than current one
VW needs to do a final manual car with old school vibes .. get rid of the screens everywhere and shiny plastics. Bring back driver experience like the golden age of VW
Pretty underwhelming, it’s the same car as the rest of the years in the lineup.. the change in looks is not major. Sad the next model won’t have manual
Volkswagen is so half ass backwards I don't understand as to why you would get rid of the 6 speed manual from the mk8 gti but yet you can only get it in the jetta GLI. that really puzzles me.
Sad there is no more LED projector headlights
Front looks like a Mitsubishi. That lower red stripe along the whole lower front is tacky as hell. What happened to vw styling?
Bogisich Cliffs
disappointing . They took the old 2019 screen and just installed it onto a frame. Why wouldn't they just create a larger entirely upgraded screen ? I have my 2019 Jetta Execline and this is a 2025 with a lot of the same features. Not much has changed with the excepting of the outside design which in all honesty I dont even like as much. Pretty disappointing but we will have to see .
looks good ..
thank goodness they didn't go with a CVT …
