The framers of the constitution recognize that, although an elected MP eventually represents the constituency (those who voted for and those who didn't), the candidacy and electability of the MP were inured by the political party on whose ticket the elected MP stood. Therefore, It is equitable to stripe off that affiliated benefit from a seating MP if a choice is made, by intention or action, to cross carpets.
If a person can be imprisoned or sentenced to death for showing intention of executing a coupe, then intent alone could be sufficient to establish causality in some instances.
