National Integration: Our Universities Have Become Incubators for Ethnic Jingoism – Kukah

The university system is the missing link in our national development programme. It has become a playground for the ambitions of local elites. Majority of Federal universities in the south have Integrated both Christian and Islamic worship centres on campus but this is almost absent in the North

If I Had Chosen Obi, It'd Be A Mistake, Tinubu Has Been Preparing To Be President Since 1990s – Kukah

The Bishop of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has revealed that if he had chosen the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as his preferred candidate, he would have made the same mistake he made in the past because Bola Tinubu is the only candidate who came prepared for the job and has been preparing since 1990s.

In an interview with Channels Television, Bishop Kukah revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari and the duo of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, among others who became Nigerian leaders were unprepared, but he is happy that for the first time, Nigeria is going to have a president in the Calibre of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is well prepared for the job.

The Bishop further revealed that both Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar were not prepared for the presidency, and no president or head of state in the history of Nigeria ever came prepared for the job of the number one citizen of the country except the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who has been nursing and preparing for the task decades ago.

He said, "If I had chose Peter Obi, it would be a mistake, Tinubu has been preparing to be president since 1990s. You can go all the way down in Nigeria, you're not going to find one single person who has been President or Head of State in Nigeria that came prepared for the job. Atiku and Obi weren’t prepared for this job and that’s why I said we should not make the same mistakes in rushing to just get someone anyhow who is not prepared to be the president of Nigeria again".

Bishop KuKah is speaking grammar. The fact is that "A nation without conscience is a curse to its people". The thing about Nigeria politicians and leaders is that they have no soul, no conscience, their wickedness has no boundary. It has become clear that Nigeria is in a complete and altered mess. There is no amount of bridge you'll build that will ever redeem Nigeria. Nigeria is rigged in darkness and you expect to survive in that strange environment. The country has gone beyond redemption. A referendum or total disintegration is the only solution to the problem in Nigeria.

Over the years immemorial H.E Bishop Kuka have been looking for 'a reason to let people know that tomorrow will be better'
Over the years the people have been defaced and continuously loosing their rights of existence in Nigeria without basic needs for life. Hope is inconsequential without positive action neither does it grow or prosper a Nation. Faith is the substance of things hope for Heb 11:1 Faith without work is dead James 2:26
How can we preach this hope to the hungry and dying poor in the streets, ID camps whose only crime is being a Nigerian. The irony of this whole discussion is that 'if we can't have a Messiah why then do we hope?' you can't be doing same thing and expect different result. Nigeria can't work base on religious and ideological differences which the Bishop has highlighted but still choose to downplay it. Enough of this jelly coating….

The Bishop made a laughable recommendation about producing the Nigerian constitution in local languages for Nigerians so that Nigerians could know their rights and defend those rights to maintain their dignity. How can a people that are incapable of thinking and reasoning be able to understand anything even if you split up their brains and dumped the constitution there?
Do you need any understanding of the constitution to know that you must not vote for a thief or a fraudster or other morally corrupt politicians? And if and when any such politicians stole your votes and rigged themselves into office, do you need any constitution to tell you that you must rise up to defend your votes and take to the streets to bring down such a government as it is done by serious and responsible citizens in other countries?

@23:01. As much as I am a great fan of Rufai, for the 1st time, I think he should have cut Kukah some slack. Yes, government is a continuum and no matter how we're tethered to our opposing views, we need to soak in reality in our assessment. It will take a while no matter what approach we use to switch from a consumption-based to a production-oriented economy. Quite a number of the methods used now are trial and error while some are strategic. Whilst we challenge their errors, we also have a moral duty to project some optimism. It should not be gloom all the way.

The Gidion Orkar view. The perfect propaganda line. A rather simple and very clever analysis. But is that the way it is,in a nation where one's qualification for the leadership of a church(ECWA) is based on one's citizenship of southern Kaduna rather than one's ecclesiastical qualifications! Tribalism is an affliction of the unproductive and free loading Nigerian elites and clergymen. They abound everywhere.

Try and appreciate a fact here sir, Bishop Kukah is speaking from the Sokoto Catholic headquarters, located in the middle of Sokoto, less than five (5) minutes drive to the Sultan's palace(it's like having an Abuja kind of mosque, only bigger, in the heart of the Vatican, next door to the Pope). The sultan is the spiritual leader of Muslims in the country. Marry this fact to the Bishop's statement. His mischief will become obvious.
