Instagram was big in images, not videos at the time of acquisition. No one thought videos would be a thing and no one saw YouTube as a social network before which is why Google has launched Google Plus. If Facebook hadn't purchased Instagram, Twitter would have, the very next week and this is well documented. MKBHD I guess should just stick to device journalism.

Yes both reasons are true, the behind scenes reason is the reality. It’s rare corporations make progressive decisions in the name of society, nun this age and time theyre all just trying to move the needle up on their stock and profits.
Essentially the behind the scenes reason is what they think of first (what they want to do to cut cost, raise earnings, etc) and what they tell the public is the “logical” reasoning behind their decision. Which to be honest, it’s a miracle IF they do that which only happens when they get backlash.
We are all just consuming sheep to them at the end of the day. Under capitalism the only governing law is profit
There's 2 reasons for everything; the good reason and the real reason.
People shat on apple when they first removed it. But now considered a logical move. And I don't think wireless and bluetooth technologies( headphones, earbuds, ..) can be as good as they are today without removing it
Well that's how company's run these big decisions, the real reason is the one they talk at the closed door meeting and then then refine that decision to be media and consumer acceptable Nike did it too with thier materials
