Is this Berberee spicy 🌶️
Maaaaan… you're dish looks amazing! I am addicted to Misir Wot. I am lucky to have an Ethiopian grocery store nearby where I can buy Berbere… but you have inspired me to make my own. The recipe I usually follow has me start with a spiced butter (which I can also buy) called niter kibbeh. I am wondering if your berber mix eliminates the need for it? Only one way to find out! Thank you for sharing!
I would use tomatoes, like red plums but I am defently will try the tomato paste!! Great job creating your own Berberee spice is hard to find but usually you can find it at your local Ethiopian Market. One Love Jah Bless!!

That is exactly what I want to make , the color… everything is beautiful, I don’t like very red Misir Wot, but I like this one.
Shout out on your great accent for starters. I’m literally trying this recipe now and will post my results. Salute
Adding to my list of food to try🙌🏾
I am watching from the UK and the dish you are making is so very similar to the way my Ugandan Asian friend makes her red lentils. The only difference is , she cooks the red lentils in water for about 25 mins ; whilst she is making the red sauce. However, she doesn't grind her spices, but fries it whole. She fries the cinnamon, cardoman, whole black pepper, cloves, bay leaves, mustard seeds &cumin in very hot oil. The mustard seeds, whole Cumin and bayleaves are added last to the oil( to prevent burning), just before she adds the onion( a lot more than you did) , garlic and ginger to fry . She then adds salt, grounded pepper, a whole tin and paste tomato to the pot ingredients and fry until the acid in the tomatoes evaporates and the sweetness appear. The mixture at this point would seperated from the oil. She then adds the lentils in the pot, stirring to combine .If the mixture is too thick, add a little water and stir well . Cover the pot and cook for about 20 mins
It is a very delicious dish.
I have a Tanzanian Asian friend who makes her curries this way as well. When she saw me using curry powder, she told me that I wasn't making a proper curry.
Need some nice njera to go with that now. That’s the next recipe.
