  1. 250,000 is not enough money because it is only "$166.46" in USD! That is not enough money for a person to live on or to raise a family! The problem is corruption by the politicians who have lots of food and can feed their families! No oil producing country should have citizens living in poverty! The oil money is being stolen by corrupt politicians who should be in prison, not in positions of authority! The corrupt politicians are laundering the money they steal in banks in the US, the UK, Dubai, and other banks throughout the world! Buhari is one of the biggest thieves! During the time he was in charge of the petroleum department, eleven million dollars was missing and no one was held responsible! Everyone responsible for that money should have been imprisoned until the money was recovered! Your president is a criminal who gave his son "seven million dollars in cash" to buy a house in the UK! He should have been forced to prove how he acquired that much money and if he couldn't provide any proof, the money should have been confiscated, asap! Nigeria allows corrupt politicians to steal millions with impunity! There should be a life sentence in prison for any politicians who steal money! imho! 😡

  2. Why is nobody, esp., the Labour, asking the Politicians to take a fifty percent cut to balance out the cost of the new salary payment? I mean, take the politicians -the Law Makers and the Executive, place them on Level 23 of the Government pay scale or the highest level as the case may be, then use the excesses to balance out! This imbroglio will disappear esp when combined with other best-practice economic strategies in more stable economies of the world

  3. How have they been able to sustain the fantastic emoluments for the legislators all this time? And why should a legislator receive funds for constituency development? Is that their job? This madness has to stop.

  4. These Labour Strike will destroy Nigerians mostly many Politicians will be killed some will collapsed. Please what NLC will focused on Federal Government is to reduce OIL price between N100 to N150 then selling and buying in Markets will come down.than demanding N250,000 as basic salary because that is not solution, what will happen to 80% of Nigerians who are not working under Government, but they are foundation of this Countries growth . If the Market traders and Skill workers added more money in their products and goods, You Will notice that N250,000 basic salary will be Seen as N25,000 basic salary does that make a sense? No!

  5. Stop all these grammar. The cost of government should be reduced. Slash the salaries of the executives , legislative and judicial officers who earn humongous salaries and redirect these cuts to shore up workers salaries in the public sector, and improved social services. It is an insult to workers for a redundant Senator to earn 30million naira monthly, while workers are paid a pittiance of 60thousand naira minimum wage

  6. 60k is rubbish 🗑 make them minister begin get 69k monthly private sector can pay they are liers because private sector in Nigeria is making triple gain already increasing their sale without control

  7. The Cultural Value of Africa is the only thing that helps those who serve slave masters, here we get food from other close relatives & friends …thereby taking home wages that can not pay children's school fees.
Alnagiri is our case, trade masters freedom service will be our celebration not the graduation party.

  8. Egypt is half of Nigeria in population, has half of Nigeria employment figure, has almost the same GDP with Nigeria, earns 1/3 of what Nigeria earns as crude revenue, but pays almost 7 times what Nigeria pays as minimum wage.

With all things being equal, adopting a simple straight forward inverse proportion mathematical model, using GDP, population/Employable population size as variables, Egypt should pay twice the amount Nigeria pays, but interestingly they do 6X of what we are doing.

So, the question should be, why the disproportionate dichotomy between our wage award and that of Egypt?

Egypt pays far higher rates yet has an average inflation rate that is lower than Nigeria's in the past 10 years. So, inflationary distortion should not be a basis and emphasis for argument, if the government knows what to do. Unfortunately, a country that has no workable mechanism for basic market price control won't know what to do, in a situation like this.

  9. Labour should go and sit down. We all know the truth but keep on kicking it out. How can Kogi state pay the same minimum wage as "TINUBU'S"Lagos state. It should be directly on capacity and nor general. Citizens need to demand more from the leadership. Take a look at Kaduna state and the silence in the state while the immediate past governor is accused of misappropriation of millions of dollars, and I wonder if we are alive

  10. Most times emotion blinds us from the truth.Wage increase will only cause inflation and retrenchment. NLC should agree to less than 60,000 naira on the following conditions

50 percent reduction of presidency and NASS expenditure

Workers earning less than 6000 naira a month should pay no taxes

Students with family income of less than 120000 a month should not pay a dime for tertiary education

Federal government should stop monthly allocation to states once they fail to pay their workers

All government agencies should buy made in Nigeria vehicles

No international trips for all government functionaries for the next one year

The Lagos- Calabar road should continue only after at least 2 dysfunctional roads in each of the 6 regions has been rehabilitated

CNG buses should be made available to all the 36 states within a month

Provide security to farmers especially those producing staple food products

Free medical and dental mobile clinics in at least 2 cities per state
