  1. Free? Only yesterday I installed the android variant on my foldable.

When I look at those (beyond stunning!) "apple tv 4K" moving backgrounds on the inner screen now I realize that the 3,99€ spent on wallpaper engine (6 years ago – one time!) were destined to become nothing short of what is to be called my "bagain of a lifetime" investment:D

  2. I honestly don't mind the shitty mobile game ads like Raid Shadow Legends, or Genshin Impact or even Marques' Panels since theres a free version to try before you understand its a scam and leave or play for a few days and leave. It offers a free version to download, test and play. While games like Genshin do heavily incentivize gambling and buying in game stuff, I played the game for a few weeks and had fun w/o purchasing anything. I would much rather that than having to buy a physical product like Fume or Air Up to find out that it doesn't work as advertised.

Also Established Titles is wild bc its selling point WAS that it was exploiting a loophole that made the purchaser a Lord or Lady, like it was selling a loophole and people thought "yeah this is legit I am legally a Lord and get to be referred to as such"

  3. I think maybe not all these things are scams, stuff like established titles yes makes sense but like ground news or airup it might just be sort of ok but very over priced I feel like calling them scams starts to make that word lose more meaning online, i think we need a word that means a product that is promoted a lot and hyped up but is like ok i guess if it was on sale or you got it as a present from your mom

  4. To play devils advocate for man scaped or raycon…I wouldn't call them scams as much as just mediocre.

Beats is overpriced for what you get, but that's true of most consumer goods.

Betterhelp and established titles are a scam, raycon and manscaped aren't…..imo.

Random: I hate dr squatches ads(especially the older ones) but I like the point they made, so I learned to make my own soap. Assuming they use a similar formula and that its cheaper because it's an economy of scale…. I'll grudgingly admit they're legit.

  5. Ground News is simply a news aggregator, it just shows you the articles, their political leaning and factual accuracy. I was started by a former NASA scientist who wanted to create a non biased news outlet

  6. One thing about taking sponsorships that some people dont think about is it can change how you upload videos and that can have unintended consequences. Karl Jobst for example uploaded 4 separate videos on The Completionist's charity drama instead of one big video where all the information was brought out in one complete package. If im not mistaken all these videos are sponsored and if you are trying to get the most money out of a situation this is what i would do i guess. This also caused drama with another youtuber (Moon Channel) who critiqued Jobst's video because he felt the information put out was not enough to "put The Completionist away" and yeah i could see how Moonie could come to that. So in the name of money Jobst made a worse "product" about a serious situation, created a misunderstanding with another youtuber, and created a react video to Moonies video that sent unnecessary hate towards someone that didnt deserve it. It was such a stupid situation and i lost all respect for Jobst after that

  7. I use ZocDoc and it’s actually super helpful. Reminds me of appointments and really does help me find doctors that take my insurance. Only problem is there are recommends on it that are paid for so it does give preference to some doctors, and doesn’t work if a doctor doesn’t use it. Super great for scheduling though. Ground News is also pretty good. It does a good job grouping stories and as much as you disparage the β€œwell rounded media consumption” it a) samples from reporting across the globe and groups them by media bias, and b) really does show how other people consume media and what narratives are prevalent in different parts of the world. I actually like being able to compare how Fox covers a story versus how the AP or CNN does. You really start to see patterns if you know how to look for them, and it shows me stories I wouldn’t often read because it has a blindspot feature. It hasn’t changed me into a centrist, but it has made me more aware of what’s going on globally and nationally.

Much as scams are rampant these days, not everything is a scam.

  8. How much money has this dude made? Why is he grifting for more? You'd think he'd have amassed enough money for his entire life. Either that or he just wants more and more.

  9. On Ground News, I have no idea how well it works in practise but I think it's great in theory. No matter where you lean, understanding the differences between left-wing and right-wing coverage of news is important.

Been noticing more and more in left-wing spaces that people are really shit at understanding why people get driven into conservative/right-leaning spaces and it leads to people fighting against conservative culture in counter-productive ways.

  10. There is like an actual gambling app that is sponsoring YouTubers! Like gambling in itself isn’t bad I don’t think, but like an app that someone can access anytime…It just doesn’t seem like best practice.

  11. Youtube 2010
"I'm doing a sponsorship since monetization isn't making enough to pay the rent."
    "BOOOO! Sellout! I'm unsubscribing!"
    Youtube 2020
"Invest in my new cryptocurrency and NFT's that are definitely not scams!"
    "Take all my money!"

  12. I don't care who you are, charging $50…. FOR A WALLPAPER APP!!! Something you can download for free or just download a picture off the internet and if you're a graphic designer, I'm pretty sure you'll be making your own wallpaper.

I think he forgot how he got to this postion, from being a kid in his bedroom making videos about tech items, to become one of the biggest youtuber in the world but fails to give back something to the fans who got him there… Thinking they would pay $50 for a wallpaper app. This is just a level of greedy unseen before because he's not even providing a useful item.

  13. Ground news concept sounds so bad, especially with its appeal to moderate progressives and centrist audiences. The people who would never read alarmist rhetoric of the right now have it shoved in their faces and they pay for it. And also while I understand the dangers of the echo chamber conceptually I don't think it is an issue outside of heavily radicalized and/or disenfranchised groups who are not the target demographic of Ground news and when presented with a choice to look outside their echo chamber they consciously refuse.

  14. This was a good distraction for me. My family and I are currently on Day 3 of no power since Hurricane Helene came through. Some of the traffic lights are still out of commission, but we're doing ok.

  15. The whole thing feels like a big nothing burger lol. this app is for people who spend money, if the people who don't like the app want something free try (zedge) the only downside is the app has gotten filed with tons of ai slop so you got to dig a bit to find the legit wallpapers lol.

  16. 20:41 This is such a lame "gotcha." Because it's taken out of context. "Premium" wallpapers have always been freemium. Free w/ ads or you pay a fee. Google Image Wallpapers are free but aren't high quality. Hardly anyone uses the free wallpaper app from Google anymore.

  17. Ehh, I doubt most people actually are trying to buy the products MKBHD shows in his videos. People like his videos because they are highly polished, vibrant, and clean. He has super fancy cameras to capture unique and beautiful shots that make his videos more like work of art than a simple consumer tech review.

  18. 4:06 It's a small niche within the niche of the tech hobbyist community. MKBHD endorsed a wallpaper app already. Backdrops, which offers the same thing Marques is offering with his new app. Which is why I was confused as to why he's promoting a new wallpaper app after sponsoring a wallpaper app already.
