Mali To Algeria: In Search Of Salt Through The Desert | Azalaï | TRACKS


In the North of Mali, the Kounta nomads still travel across the desert to reach the salt mines of southern Algeria. For 40 days, they will walk 1500 km to get 6 tonnes of “white gold” from the Taoudenni mines. This great salt journey is called Azalaï. Follow along to see how they make this incredible journey.

  1. I don't get the Algeria references. Taoudenni is in Mali and the Kunta live mostly in north east Mali so where does Algeria come into play? 🤔

  2. Impresionant mod de viata si totusi nu isi pierd speranta ,merg mai departe ,nu se opresc . Sunt obisnuiti cu suferinta ,nu au alt mijloc de traire .Sarea pentru ei este numita Aurul Alb . Acesti oameni merita mult respect pentru truda lor .Dumnezeu sa-i ocroteasca si sa-i binecuvanteze .
