In the North of Mali, the Kounta nomads still travel across the desert to reach the salt mines of southern Algeria. For 40 days, they will walk 1500 km to get 6 tonnes of “white gold” from the Taoudenni mines. This great salt journey is called Azalaï. Follow along to see how they make this incredible journey.

Excellent doc. The narrative dialogue is very effective. I wonder why many of the people are not wearing any kind of foot covering.
I don't get the Algeria references. Taoudenni is in Mali and the Kunta live mostly in north east Mali so where does Algeria come into play? 🤔
