Mali tax dispute: Military govt seizes gold from Canadian mining giant

Tensions are escalating in Mali as the military-led government has seized nearly $245 million worth of gold from the Canadian mining company Barrick Gold. The gold was taken from a mining site in the far west, which has been at the centre of a long-standing dispute over unpaid taxes and mining contracts.
