  1. We love the idea behind this but we want to see all nations in Africa represented. There are about 54 beautiful countries with diverse stories to be told to the world.

  2. I'm really glad about more African made content on Netflix! 🙂
But I've noticed when it comes to categorising the films/shows made in Africa, they are all under the category “African films”. Can you please name the specific country in Africa where the film/show originates from??
A message to the media team of Netflix:
This is a reminder that Africa is a continent, not a country – please do not group all African films together under one category. Please categorise films from Africa according to their individual country of origin as you have done for films from other countries/continents. You didn’t categorise the Indian film Pihu under “Asian films”, nor the Spanish film Seventeen under “European films”, so please do the same for your films that originate from the continent of Africa.

Africa is made up of many different countries with their own separate cultures and film industries. By having one category it seems as though you’ve lumped all African films together as if there isn’t diversity within the African film industry. Africans are not a monolith and not all of Africa is the same. I would strongly advise that, like you have with films from all the other continents, you separate and categorise the films in your “African films” category into categories from their respective countries, e.g. “Ghanaian films”, “Senegalese films”, “Kenyan films” etc.

    Thank you.
