Thank you all for engaging in this discussion. I want to address the topic of xenophobia since many South Africans feel triggered by my assessment.
Firstly, born and raised in Germany, I see many similarities regarding xenophobia between both countries. However, in Germany, as in South Africa, the issue isn’t the migrants themselves, but the mismanagement of resources and the failure of the government to address these problems. What’s troubling is that rather than holding the government accountable, people often attack the weakest and most vulnerable—the migrants. This is plain wrong!!!
Let me also clarify that I am not excusing illegal immigration or the breaking of laws. However, it’s important to recognize that in both Germany and South Africa, the legal immigration processes are deeply flawed. Many people who migrate do so out of desperation, and the reality is that the systems in place make it nearly impossible for them to follow the legal route. This is something we should hold the government accountable for, not the migrants who are simply trying to find a better life.
What is most concerning is how people respond to illegal immigration. This is where human rights come into play. In any society, the way you handle challenges speaks to your values and respect for humanity. Violent attacks, burning shops down, and killing migrant workers show a complete disregard for basic human rights. Whether someone is documented or not, they deserve to be treated with dignity.
Regarding Chidimma, bullying a 23-year-old woman online for crimes she did not commit goes against our shared values of respect and humanity. Period!
Lastly, I understand that there are deep concerns in South Africa, and I empathize with the frustration over unemployment and lack of resources. But attacking migrants—whether they are legal or undocumented—is not the solution. It’s about how we treat people in the most difficult situations that truly reflects the values of a nation. South Africa has a long history of fighting for human rights, and we should never lose sight of that.

@lnut94

It's true that roads in South Africa 🇿🇦, Namibia 🇳🇦 and Botswana 🇧🇼 are smooth than Kenya 🇰🇪, Ethiopia 🇪🇹, Malawi 🇲🇼

@lnut94

So Cape Town is the tourist destination just like Swakopmund here in Namibia,,, but Cape Town is the mother city while Swakopmund is the daughter to Cape Town. 🇳🇦❤🇿🇦

@vegasmitch1472

Which 1 has the Most Women that Look Like You??? Then that's where i want 2 Move!! 🤔🤪

@junonzephyr3713

Great video. Very interesting and informative.

@Doug5614

This was great! I'm looking at African countries where to consider to live In the next few years when retirement comes. I still want to be a digital nomad, and I am thinking of living a few months out of each year in each country. I'm heavily considering South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda. I'm hearing Nigeria's worth checking out as well.

@lucienpetersen

And there is a German school in cape town!

@MsJamba09

That Kenya can even be compared to South Africa shows Our third president Kibaki did a great job. Our second President Moi brought the nation to an all time low with 24 years of misrule. That Kenya, a nation without minerals which only relies only Agriculture can be compared to South Africa gives Kenya hope for the future.

@vukiletonywelskit3156

I like your balanced match up

@Nonsensetv-n6m

Kenya my motherland, without Kasongo kenya would have reached South Africa level but we're fixing that.

@julenegergen9034

Weyni I love this episode, and big Fan of yours
I myself SA born and a German citizen looking to find my place in Africa!

@SuitedforGaming

Just my personal opinions: I'm an Ethiopian living in America. Comparing the two countries, I would agree. South Africa is definitely ahead in most things…and, unfortunately, a huge part of it is due to colonial infrastructure /development. Given a choice between the two, personally, I'd still opt for Kenya. SA in its current form is still reconciling from, and working through, effects of Apartheid. Sometimes I surprise myself when I remember that post-Apartheid SA is younger than I am.
The state of affairs there are still volatile as locals (rightfully) take control and manage their own country. The governing of SA in the future can help maintain its status as the beacon of African development…or run it into the ground. Either way, as a foreigner, I'd hate to move to SA and end up being a scapegoat for local frustrations while they figure stuff out. Not saying this can't happen in any other country, I'm just saying the chances of it happening in SA are more likely.
Kenya is a bit more seasoned and has been independent since 1963. The infrastructure isn't as developed as South Africa's, and corruption is rife; it can hit you harder than a freight train if you don't know what to expect…. but the people tend to be friendly, accepting and laid back. They hold their own officials to task instead of targeting foreigners, and the prospect of the country's growth is a bit more stable/predictable at this point. I would take Kenya any day of the week until SA has a more stable baseline.

@levongoldsborough9235

SA..idk..they open the door for apartheid as if they never learned their lesson

@KristelViljoen

You are beautiful. It depends which culture. Certain cultures have a problem but I believe many will welcome you. Remember we are a blend of diffrent cultures. My neighbors are from Malawi and I adore them.

@Deggoo

And why u went back to Kenya?

@satoshiblack1046

On dark lonely roads look out for hyenas in kenya. I wish the kenyan governments were stronger but still in the pocket of the british, even the indigenous language was discouraged and english was the stamp. South Africa is the most beautiful country ive ever seen. I love Cape Town and would definitely take South Africa over kenya and like every country in the world, know how you move and you will be fine

@mfanafuthimokubung5026

South africa is now being overly marketed, just like the USA 🇺🇸 back in the days.

@M-tu3kq

Am Kenyan and big up to South Africans, our loving family. ❤❤❤

@Bantusub-sahara

My sister I am a South African. But the damage of our brothers they cos here in South Africa is very big. 1 brother coming from Uganda stole R80,000.00 from me, Just 2 months back. so what do you think will be my re-action next time when I meet someone coming from outside of S.A? Nigerians are selling drags here. Nigerians are the most in owning prostitution places here. Yes they are our brothers but the bad they do in S.A is to much.

@phindilenqoko7551

Obvious 🇿🇦 is the best ,,but most Africans hate south Africans but love our country ,,they always look down on south Africans ,calling them lazy and nasty but love our country …that is why i will never understand unity that yall are preaching here ..no one calls out the shit mean stuff some foreigners do to south Africans

@sfisosambo8217

Great video. Great analysis..you deserve citizenship here. I do note you have addressed your comments on xenophobia in SA….but one thing you deliberately left out on the MISS SA pageant cand, was that someone's identity was STOLEN and that person lost their whole existence in their own country. You like everyone won't speak about how illegal immigrants have affected South Africans, the ills undocumented people do in foreign countries because its not a good selling point, from killings, hijackings, drugs, robberies, rape etc and do all these without a trace. SA is in fact the most inclusive country in Africa with the highest number of foreign nationals (Zimbabweans, Ethiopians, Somalians, Swazis, Mozambicans, Nigerians, Sotho, Tswana etc)..having almost 3 million foreign nationals (an underestimated number), more than any other country in Africa. The issue has never been foreign nationals as you put it…but illegal foreign nationals. Why is it wrong to have concerns over Illegal and Undocumented people, when we clearly see the damage they cause? You are telling us about the propaganda you have also read on the news. Did you feel in any way unwelcomed during your stay in SA? You met a lot of foreign nationals during your stay…did you witness any animosity between them and the locals. Do you know that according to the West, white people are being slaughtered in SA every day, did you perhaps observe something that could cement these views? We are all for the unity of the African continent, but South Africa is just a country in it and has laws. People should abide by the laws, just as they do in their respective countries.

Otherwise, I loved your video, you gave some really good analysis and for the most part, you were really spot-on about SA and I think Kenya is a great country too.

@olefilerabolele5160

Thanks for the shout out Weyni, we do hope that SA can be a great place for you and your family to plant roots.

@abdullahiahmedabdi4125

As a Somalian currently living in South africa 17 years let say definitely Mzansi is better…..lived in Kenya 8 years,did my primary education kcpe

@iambrianjohnson

Your knowledge on South Africa's crime is lacking valuable education. 80% of the sirens you hear on a daily basis are from training routes Ambulance, Security companies and police vehicles they do every day – night and day. South is so much bigger than Johannesburg, Cape town or Durban. Go visit East London, Port Alfred, Port Elizabeth, Jefferies Bay, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay or Lamberts Bay.

@ASofterSide

South Africa’s Femicide rate is very high. A woman or girl is killed every four hours.

@siyandankalane6721

Kenyans are very wonderful people, had a Kenyan lecturer, colleague and now I live next to a wonderful Kenyan family 🤞💯

@ManqobaNimrodMarolen

My sister, look at it this way. If Kenya's bussiness opportunites can be compared to South Africa's, we have to ask, why Kenyans miggrate to South Africa, why don't they rely on those opportunity instead? Please, don't misinterpret what I'm saying, all I'm saying is, there's a lot to take into consideration. Next time, please don't make presumptions on such sensitive subjects, it turnishes our image and I take offence to that. Like it or not South Africans will confront it's government 1 way or another, don't act surprised when they start protesting food quality, they've been complaining aboutit for a long time and what is being done about it? you guessed it, nothing! Then, when citizens react however they can you throw the X word right in their phases. Preaching the same lies the media keeps feeding you… We are old enough not to believe everything the media says, it our biggest responsibilty to dig even deeper.

@ManqobaNimrodMarolen

Instead of having a backing, we're often painted as the bad guys. Please apply the law of cause and effect, when considering the political spectrum of South Africa. In terms of safety, have you considered the fact that South Africa doesn't have rebel armies terrorising citizens, just like in other countries within the continent. I'm sorry but this is offensive, this is insufficient research on your part. You just running with what you being feed by media, the only place without crime is heaven. Even in your country, there's crime, but to say South Africa has 1 of the highest crime rate, is an understatement. There cannibalists in certain regions of Africa, unfortunately, South Africa isn't 1 of them.

@ManqobaNimrodMarolen

South Africans are frastrated with their government, illegal immigration just adds fuel to the fire. You can literally run away from the cops at your country and live under the radar in South Africa. As South Africans we cannot go to other countries and do as we please. Have you seen how foreign nationals manufacture goods sold to South Africans. You can't blame South Africans without holding the South African government accountable, you'll not be doing it's citizen. These xenophobic attacks don't occur on a daily basis, they were plan, in rebellion against corruption. Let's face it, government is benefiting from cheap labour, that's an irrefutable fact, but when it priorities it over the employment of it's citizens, don't you find it odd? Why are the citizen painted in a bad light but nothing is said about leadership. Let me, set the record straight, South African are not monsters or stupid or lazy. They are side-lined…

@ManqobaNimrodMarolen

Foreigners are still living South Africa, under South African residences, paying rent. Xenophobia is a political movement, the majority of foreigners living in South Africa undocumented. What the South African government doesn't tell you, is that there is no acountability and regulations. Don't look at things at face value, foreign nationals are still living South Africa. They are not being kill everyday. With all due respect, South African love foreign nationals, we buy food from them, they cut our hair. Let's just face the facts, you clearly haven't delve deeper into the matter. I'm not arguing, all I'm saying is that, the battle us against our own government, currently. Yes there was apartheid, but this isn't the main issue.

@GoddessBB

Thanks a lot, I have been trying to decide between Kenya & South Africa, and South Africa won!

@Landless_Native
