My thought is that rich people are often rich because they invest and spend their money wisely, and buying a Chanel bag is not a wise move. I know I'm not rich enough, but my assets are enough that I can easily buy luxury goods in kisluxs
George Washington's slave William Lee was provided with clothing. Exoticism was in fashion so they would dress up their slaves in this type of clothing. Portraits were staged just like photos are today; Mr. Lee was not able to as she said, "…make an expression about himself." as he had no choice in the clothing he was given.
