President Carter you were a true symbol to the state of Georgia. The nation will greatly miss you. You lived a wonderful life for 100 years. Rest in peace Mr. President

I was barely five years old when my family was moving from one dugout shelter to another as american planes were dropping bombs to save the Philippines from the Japanese occupiers. Our father made us wave a white cloth with one hand and the other over our hearts while we sang all the American patriotic hymns! When the war was won, we learned that 3 of our closest American missionary friends (all women) were beheaded by the Japanese; one of them was my godmother, They had refused offers of Filipino co-underground fighters to hide them once they learned their work was already discovered by the Japanese as they did not want to endanger those Filipinos. THESE WERE THE FIRST AMERICANS I came to know, remembered, and idolized and made me want to migrate here to be with these people I have learned to love, respect, and be grateful for saving my life, country, and countrymen.
Pres. Carter was like these heroes and I have tried to live like them. Lately, I have been worried about the direction of this country and it seems that individuals with different values are overtaking this country. May this not happen, I pray! The commentators and the speakers at the funeral rites make me hopeful ! PLEASE, I IMPLORE, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, it is not by acts like destroying the US Capitol and even be defended at the top!
P.S. When Bin Laden attacked the Twin Towers, I felt like my adopted country was stabbed and I felt it, too, that I felt urged to volunteer to go after them!

I have been crying for a President for the first time since 11/22/63.

Jimmy Carter seemed like a decent man, motivated by his faith to try and make the world a better place for more people.
He was however an ineffectual one term president, who should be thankful that when historians consider bad one term presidents, Carter will now be overlooked in favor of the even worse Biden one term presidency.

Sad that so many of the people commenting have no idea that Jimmy Carter and his administration caused all the Middle Eastern upheaval (overthrowing the Shah of Iran). I'm American and remember it well.
Turned his back on the Shah of Iran and allowed the Shah to be overthrown. Look up life in the 1970s in Iran, under the Shah's rule. Looked like America! Now look up what life in Iran looks like for women today. That is what Jimmy Carter allowed to happen.
Gosh I'm crying my eyes out. What a legacy he left behind! So humble and hardworking with his beloved wife. Always helping and trying to make a better world. Why don't we as Americans just try to live by example. RIP

Itโs amazing that Jimmy Carter and the Carter Center have nearly eliminated all the human Guinea worm cases in the world after there were 3.5 million cases in the 1980s. Itโs down to fewer than 10 cases thanks to Carter. And river blindness is eliminated in 4 Latin American countries and 2 or 3 African nations thanks to Carter and to Merck for donating 5 billion pillsโฆ An amazing achievement! Bless Jimmy Carter for caring about the common good and doing so much to improve life for so many!
His presidency may have been difficult but he was an incredible humanitarian. His life of faith is an inspiration to me. He did what he thought Jesus would have done for the under-privileged. Rest In Peace, President Carter.
