Libya strives to restore historic area of capital

Tripoli’s old city is rich in history and culture.
The historic area of the Libyan capital was established more than 3,000 years ago and later developed by the Romans.
It has been neglected for decades, but that is starting to change.
Al Jazeera’s Malik Traina reports.

  1. Surprise, surprise! The old city in Libya's capital has NOT been renovated since the forties. That's over 70 years and even during the 42 years of Kadaffi's regime. The dictator had the money to go buy weapons and spread them around Africa, but he didn't have the money to renovate the ancient monuments and neighbors of the capital. Very odd the Arabs regimes!! Some good news coming from Libya nevertheless!! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Tripoli is an amazingly beautiful city, from the old mosques to the churches, castle and former palaces, cobble streets and markets, fortified walls and of course the mythical Arch of Marcus Aurelius! I am so happy that finally some people organized themselves to initiate the resurrection of this World history treasure! It is sad that the video is so superficial and basically does not even really show anything of what is in the Old City…

  3. You mean history of the ugly self imposed king of africa era? Apart from that i cannot imagine that there is other history. North Africa has always lived under occupation and opression. Now, it is occupied by its corrupt despotic regimes.
