People keep making the mistake that hyenas are a strict hierarchy that never changes. Actually, hyenas are really social and rely on friendships to determine their positions. Even "queen" is decided this way at times. Also, hyenas have some of the highest success rates when it comes to hunting.

Where i live not all the predators are in the game preserve hyenas act funny as hell when i approach one their curious but leary at the same time. i think they are cute but i found out they are fast when they want to be and can jump pretty high . I need more info on behavior seeing that i dont mind going on foot with them around. ive never felt threatened by them but thay can be a bit moody and skittish .

How can you say hyenas aren’t scavengers?? That’s what they do 95% of their time! Steal kills from leopards, painted dogs, and lions w/o make lions around. It’s not utter nonsense it’s facts. For having the second highest kill rate of all carnivores, they are too lazy and rather live scavenging/bullying. They treat their own that way why not everyone else? The only hyenas that gets love and attention are the daughters.
