Lake Victoria flooding: Rising water levels displace 40,000 in Kenya


Lake Victoria is the world’s largest tropical lake.
It’s a source of life for millions of people who live along its shores.
But recent flooding in Western Kenya has caused the lake to overflow, forcing at least forty thousand from their homes.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Kisumu County, Western Kenya.

  1. These families should be given land that is not on lake Victoria’s floodplain… and more land should be set aside as potential flood plains if they are worried about climate change. The government should educate their people not to build on flood land.
