The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the country’s state-owned oil firm, said the blast in March occurred as a result of a truck that hit gas cylinders near one of its petroleum pipelines.

  1. He was and is still currently the GMD of NNPC as at today. This detailed investigation tells you a whole lot about the system. Even after watching this clip, the NNPC will still maintain their stand as to what caused the explosion. Indeed there was a country.

  2. I'm at 10:13 and I already see a major flaw with this investigation. It's possible that the gas being released from that area went on to ignite something, but I can't see how that spot was the epicenter of the explosion. That Ivenco truck would be shredded into pieces, the rocks inside it would've been shrapnel – and there would be a crater at the detonation site.

Edit: Okay I see. That makes more sense.

  3. The level of corruption in Nigeria is going to cost every Nigerian their life. First off why would they run a gas line through a residential neighborhood? I watched all of the incidents and not one fire fighter was present. The government is paying relief funds to families (we know that’s a big lie though) nnpc was never brought to book. Shey we ain’t mad in this country like this?

  4. Lack of common sense from Lagos state govt & NMPC is what killed these innocent people. How can you build a pipeline through a community with schools & homes where people dwell? This is pure STUPIDITY & has no regard for human life. This is the problem with Nigeria, its embarrassing & heartbreaking. Is there any hope left for Nigeria? The Lord can't help us until we rebuild our foundation, it is weak to the core with bad leadership. If the foundation is spoiled what can the righteous do?

  5. Perfect storm, failures from NNPC(why is a pipe line runningclose to (residential homes), to Building regulations( who gave licence to those homes to be built when they fully know, there is a pipe line close by), to road Management (nothing done about the rain )to traffic management (what is a truck with 25tonnes of stone doing in a residential place)to Sales Regulation(tea seller with open flame in public) Risk assessments.

  6. I feel absolutely terrible about this incident in Nigeria. May the soul of those that died rest in peace. Now, i don't mean to be crude, what happened at Grenfel Tower. How many people died there? I feel awful remembering the over 72 innocent souls that lost their lives in the London inferno. Anguish filled my heart the day it happened. Till today, I still feel pain deep in my soul. May their souls rest in peace. Amen. However, how would it seem/feel if a Nigerian TV station counteracts the UK government official report and insists on a cover up. What about the "Cladding Cover up" insinuations. Would the immediate reaction of the authorities have been different if the disaster was not in a working class area of London. Would all of us commenting here have the same regard for the newsworthiness of the African reportage. Double standard is all I'm saying. I'm sick and tired of all these western media focusing on African stories with the sole aim of causing rift on the continent. British people, there is a lot on your plate right now. Go deal with Brexit and leave us alone.

  7. It's not about the government compensating families with 2.5million naira the Government should ensure these oil companies look in to the safety procedures to ensure safety of it's citizens. 2.5 Million naira can never be enough for the lives lost.

  8. This is a well detailed documentary. It's very irresponsible of NNPC and the NPSD not to take responsibility for this Chaos. Those who lost properties, loved ones and those who sustained injuries of any kind including those traumatiZed by this Chaos should sue NNPC and NPSD.
