The wight of a 790 adventure 2020 is 188 kg DRY. Where did you found 209? 😂😂😂
@4:15 That is NOT sand, that is hard packed with a few loose bits on top. I want to see it in 3" or 4" deep sand, not a dried and cracked mud lane shown @4:25

Nice review, I just purchased an "R" version. Took it out riding locally in the southwest U.S. and agree with your characterization that it is a love child between the 1290 SAR and the KTM 500 dual sport. The only thing that bugs me about it is the lack of a center stand. It is too big to lift onto a separate mobile center stand so doing things like adjusting chain slack or removing the wheels is impossible unless one purchases a KTM rear wheel lifter along with a front wheel lifter adapter. After market center stands are in such high demand they all seem to be sold out. KTM isn't offering one either as a Powerpart. If one is out in the middle of no where and the sidewall of a tire is cut, removing the wheel is impossible without a center stand.
The hardest part with the ktm is not the bike itself, it is an amazing bike, the hardest part is to choose the tires we should put on for what we need 🙂

Anyone catch the pricing that they talked about? Maybe they were talking Pounds or Euros.
Lucky for some – low price haha – here In Australia, our KTM just added AUD$4000 extra for a laugh to the USA/South Africa prices? Aussies are paying for the MotoGP team dev? Whereas Yamaha T7 price here is on par converted to USA…? Why don't journalists have any fortitude and just say the bike is missing certain vital items to fake the weight? 1) missing a rally fairing for cold/rain exposure, head buffeting? 2) missing crash bars? 3) missing a thick bash plate? 4) the motor is gutless. When the Africa Twin came out everybody said I will never buy a gutless bike with 95hp – now a 95hp ktm adv bike is the best? Why not mention the clutch burn oil jet issues, oil leaks, coolant leaks – are they fixed? meh imo it's just another super ugly ugly bike designed by Gerald.Kiska to #shock by KPM – Kiska.Pierer.Matighoffen. I might buy another KTM one day, but only if it has 125hp, has no #shock orange, a fairing, crash bars, ie Norden 901 – neo-classic for me.
Good review, but I think it's a biased exaggeration to say '209kg wet weight it's the lightest adventure bike in its class by miles', Yamaha Tenere 700 is 205kg and the Tiger 800XC has a wet weight of 215kg, that's not miles imo.
Any buffeting ? I read the wind protection of both models is not good.

Huge KTM Puff Piece, but doesn’t stop them looking heavy & bulky like over-weight trail bikes.

no good if electronics let you down like whats happening to many ,ktm cant even get the key to talk to the ECU so you can start the bit error error , leaving people stranded in butt fuck whoop whoop ,

KTM 790r weighs 213kg, around the same as an f800gs. The lightest bike in the segment would be the new tenere at 205kg. However, the KTM does carry about 2kg more fuel than the Yamaha.
I really like the looks but I’ve read some horror stories from 2 Guys that went to Mongolia with the R bike and a 1290. They experienced Oil issues. Dashboards breaking off. Suspension failing..
