Kenya doctors' demonstrations: Medical staff strike for fourth week running

Medical staff in Kenya are on strike for the fourth week running.

They’ve demanded more interns be hired with better pay — but the government says it can’t afford any pay increases.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi is in the capital Nairobi where doctors have been holding demonstrations.

  1. Point of correction, we're not demanding payment increase. It's the government that has reduced the normal stipend by 91 % with a lame reason of let's live within our means.

  2. What we lack in kenya is governance, we have a very corrupt president, plus his ministers, people with corruption scandals from here to Timbuktu running the government

  3. For almost a month plus strike and yet the G.O.K has done nothing to solve issues there in. You have to question why? and importantly bring this matter to an end.

  4. This isn't really accurate. The government delayed to post interns because they were planning on slashing their salaries by 91% which of course all doctors refused.
That and also the 2017 CBA that wasn't honoured by the government.
