This 'Documentary' completely skips any mention of the fact that one of the British cases for war before the Reduction of Lagos was to stop the slave trade in episode 2, which Sokoto was still practicing. If youre going to make a legitimate, educational documentary you need to concede on some historical events that maybe dont fit your agenda. Im not watching another episode.
It looks like it's not on Netflix anymore… Is it available anywhere else?
Seem like this documentary has been taken off netflix….right?
This isn't on Netflix anymore
I'm mad they removed this from Netflix. I sat down with my family to view the entire series, made an event of it and it was gone. SMFH Let me go find the Blu-ray to buy, please I hope it exist.
How do you come to another man's land and take it as your own?? How do you let another man come to your land and take ownership of it????? Ugggghhh. 😐😐
Netflix, please consider keeping this documentary on beyond the 9/30/22 expiration, especially considering the recent death of the queen. People NEED to know the full history as told from the African perspective.
What has been good about Nigeria's creation? Better for all the constituent zones/territories break up along ethnic lines for meaningful progress. The Hausas & Fulanis in the North, have destroyed the fabrics of then Nigeria.
Great. 👍
This and the history of Africa by zaniab badawi should be compulsory documentary to watch in all levels of education in Nigeria and Africa at large maybe just maybe that white supremacists theory would stop .
This documentary should be shown in schools in Nigeria and stop preaching the English please. Help our nation and culture have longevity. A lot of people don't know this but the writings used in black panther all those symbols belong to the igbo tribe in Nigeria, even Nigerians don't know
0:02 "One people"?! Which one kind people? Is this docuhistory or science fiction?
Thank you for this fantastic historical documentary 👏. We need more of these types of documentaries on individual towns and regions in Nigeria.
May God bless the memories of our ancestors who lived, prospered, suffered, created history and died for the yoruba nation.
Shalom
This documentary also whitewashes the African narrative. I’m still on episode one but I haven’t heard anything about the multiple Africans that sold Africans into slavery. I also take issue with the use of the word slave when referring to enslaved Africans. I understand this documentary is not about slavery. That being the case they should not be mentioned if the breeze carries only the palatable truth many Africans can stomach. This is a Nigerian propaganda documentary. It is offensive to the descendants of the millions of enslaved Africans that many Nigerians continue to profit from. Dr. Henry Louis Gates in his documentary Many Rivers to Cross interviewed such Africans who admitted this “atrocity.” I will continue to watch and critique this documentary as I am descended from enslaved Africans.
Priceless and truly remarkable. Thank you . Mr. Olasupo Shasore.
Much respect and love

I love ❤️ this is black history the young generation need to know this.🎉🥳👏🏿🎯💯
Amazing! This docuseries is so timely even right now with Omicron. #roots
"It is easier for descendants of Nazi's to gain entry into Britain than the descendants of those who fought along side British soldiers."
The best African Documentary we have ever watched about our country Nigeria. We watched it on Oct 2nd, 2020. Thank you Mr Olasupo Shasore for your impeccable work on this documentary. It was indeed a journey for us and we keep going back to watch it
It's a shame this isn't A journey : How the world colonised Africa to see how different nations were also affected by colonisation.
Thanks for this doumentary. I love the point where unity is not the reason for poor performance.
Having watched the series, I move that the people of the great old kingdoms now called Nigeria consider changing their country's name from the derogatory name 'Nigeria' to an original, appropriate African name.
Waited so long for this. Very insightful and looking forward to more episodes.
We need more history in Nigeria
This is one of the best documentaries ever filmed and it is very suspicious how this has not been celebrated by the media in the UK or USA as they prefer there candy floss whitewashed BBC Samuel l Jackson cartoon on Slavery
I have wanted this for so long …Nigeria you make me proud
great work
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I wish Africa could sue for what belongs to them 🙏🏽
We also need a similar documentary for india, the British pillaged india even harder. India went from 20% share in the world economy to 1% share in 1947 when the birtishers left
Thank you for this i cant wait to watch this and be educated on my culture!
The Fuck???? Who the fuck directed this?? Why do they think Nigeria is the only place that was colonized? And they have the audacity to call it an African Colony. So stupid! AFRICA HAS 53 COUNTRIES!!! Cmon!!!!! There is East African British Colony and South African dutch/British colony, French Colony in Other parts of West Africa, a Portuguese colony in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and even Spanish Colony in Equatorial Guinea. The correct title of this should be The Journey of Colonization in Nigeria. Then it is more specific.
I have seen all the episodes, and they are the most comprehensive history of Nigeria I have ever watched. Great job sir.
