I’ll never forgive Disney for how they did John and his character so dirty. I remember seeing a behind the scenes feature the of the Force Awakens and how excited he was, talking about what a huge fan he was of Star Wars. Disney teased his character everywhere in promotional material, left it open ended in the movie if he would be a love interest or Jedi, and then backed away from that when they couldn’t break into the Chinese market thinking it was because of his race. He was the token black character, the diversity quota, and I think he realized that and felt used.

I love that John and Oscar Isaac have the exact same reaction to end of the movie. And as John continues to just stare into the aether of disappointment, Oscar gets curious and looks around at the rest of the cast, and upon seeing John he's like "Me too kid. Me too."

Finn being force sensitive would've been an amazing story that im sure a lot of people would want to see, and i expected the force awakens to go there and be the setup for that story but i was severely disappointed.

He should have been the Jedi, and Rey should have fallen to the sith. That was the perfect and most interesting direction that trilogy could have gown down. But they degraded him down to a diversity cast. He should have been the Stormtrooper turned Jedi and carried the Star Wars trilogy. But no, can't have that, China wouldn't like that and Disney doesn't actually like diversity past the checkmarks they can get from the Twitter audience, so lets make him a bumbling idiot that does nothing but yells Rey's name non-stop.

The sequel trilogy should have been about Finn, and just done away with the whole skywalker thing or at least stop relating everyone to it like Tekken does to the Mishimas XD Or they could’ve made an entire trilogy off of rouge one to build up the characters to kill then at the end as a twist. Something new… that’s what Star Wars needed, the exact opposite of what Disney did.
