Ehh of course we don’t wanna be seen as a stepping stone club, but a release clause isn’t really a big deal. If he really wanted to leave, we would let him leave with or without one. A high release clause would at least set a hard value making it less risky than negotiating
Bayern doesn’t generally have release clauses because players rarely want to leave and we respect their decision if they do. So players just forgo it to get other benefits. It’s only for clubs that are mandated to have them (like in Spain) or teams that know they can’t retain players for long and would need to make a profit. Bayern are neither.
Just give it to him and chances are they’ll see it as meaningless when contract negotiations start up again, like with Ribery

If you demand a release clause, it is because you do not trust your team/club to be competitive and win all the titles there are.
