  1. ATTENTION: I am from Ivory Coast..French military is NOT leaving! It's a "retrocession" like the vassal president said on his annual speech.
He did not denounce the colonial defense contract unlike Mali, Burkina, Niger and more recently Tchad!

Also there are plenty of video of Macron and Jean Marie Bockel (his special advisor on African matters) stating this is about being "less visible" to the population but still more efficient when it comes to deploying quickly. They would move those soldiers into private securities companies so that "officially no one can say the French military is ivory coast.
English speaking people miss some of the details because of the language barriers but there are all type of declarations from French officials on YouTube stating that this is a reconfiguration to be more efficient with less visibility! They put Ouattara in power so he will never kick him out. They are anticipating in the wave sweeping through mali, burkina, niger and tchad!

  7. Good. Hope more African countries follow their example. Next step should be the removal of the French language and if African countries need technological help in areas like satellite technology they should look to other countries willing to do technological transfers (i.e. not just selling that technology but also training Africans both how to use and manufacture that technology). When it comes to drones I suspect the Turks would be the ideal ones to approach on this.
