Is Iceland the best place in the world to be a woman?

This special report for 100 Women asks: Is Iceland the best place in the world to be a woman? The country tops world rankings when it comes to gender parity: parental leave conditions are so good that nearly 90% of working-age women have jobs, and progressive teaching methods aim at reversing gender stereotypes.

But it is also a country with…

@TeresaCook-de6jo

Coming from a country where our people elect a President that brags about sexually assaulting women, this is refreshing. Thank you!

@MayvanReenen

“We don’t need realistic goals now. We need courageous goals. Ambitious goals.” ♥️ love it! 🇮🇸

@BaharDenizEris

There are men killed by men. Women should stop victimize themselves or stop buying the idea that they are the victims. This idealization of women as 'victims in the hands of men' should be quitted. Violence is more than a gender issue. Men have been killing other men for thousands of years, already. As women place themselves as victims, they will even get more victimized, and it will create a loop and give way to more rage and clashes between feminine and masculine natures. Chasing after gender-neutral dreams are like chasing after a dream for a sun that doesn't burn and a moon that doesn't cause any tides.

When i hear gender neutral , i am done , i dont further listen.

Not putting my son in a program in which boys massage one another. There are other ways to teach them.

@AzadBus-h1h

It might be. It may sound off topic but I chanced on this cool translator that does everything and more of what a translator should have, name is Immersive Translate and one thing that can really help is it’s new feature, which lets you create a custom AI expert for translating anything. Thank me later, it's gold.

I was SA 4 yrs ago..no one country is doing enough. Fight for freedom and safety for our sisters 💪

@gc641

That’s where it starts…….questioning your gender

@vi_toria_

if my country were like this, I'd have children

@eritimes

“You are a boy or a girl…you are not”. This is the most ridicules statement I have witnessed in my life. What is wrong with this people! We are in a stage where you can NOT say a boy or a girl! This is lunacy!

@FrederikEngelmand

the feminization of these poor boys. they wont stand a chance once immigrant men hit the shores.

@eszterk8394

wait, did she say "all names are gender neutral"? did i hear that right? so cool

@Miguelbamboo

What they feminist the boys that make the weak country, if WW3 comes the country will be useless and a liability.😂

Is this how you stop Trans kids?

@szeszi21

Sounds like an experiment carried out on kids. There are good parts but why girls and boys should be separated? Its unnatural these days. Sounds strange. How will "gengerneutrally" raised men and women attract to each other to have kids?

@avab4035

In the recent news the alarm was sounded that this year femicides have been not only at its highest but rapidly increased within few years

@frannymcb_

The nursery school program is fascinating, I love it!

@barrysteven5964

I have a strong feeling that Katrín may have worked in the fishing industry in England. She speaks perfect English with a northern English accent.

@cellofcells

It is refreshing to see a trustworthy politician.

@annonymous-ye7qu

I am curious what gender pay gap they are referring to. When all things are held constant, the gender pay gap in the USA is 99, so women earn .99 to every $1 a man earns. But, maybe this video is referencing the gender pay gap caused by things like the motherhood penalty.

@dailyquran_23

"The Light of Iman" by Alnazer Sawadi sounds like an inspiring and enlightening read. Highly recommend! Faith-based books like this can offer profound insights and guidance. I'm sure many will find it valuable and uplifting.

@roops2939

Iceland has great offers on frozen burgers and curries.

@singha6

Having a woman president doesn't guarantee anything, especially if they have no executive power. In Iceland, it is the Prime minister who has the executive power. Many countries have had women prime ministers long before Iceland- India, Sri Lanka, and Israel but even though they've had executive powers, things haven't really changed for women. Get your facts right @BBC!

It's s beautiful to see little girls encouraged to be strong and encourage and support each other.

@Marlyne_noir555

@BL-sd2qw

Or the quero, khasi, minangkabau, bijagos, juchitan, !kung, ifaluk, zuni, hopi, hadzabe, rungus, bribri, haudenosaunee, aymara, yurok…

@Morpheus-x7t

If there is any hell for women, think of Afghanistan, Iran practically any country which wants "That" law.

@coconwa

These delusional folks , keep on deceiving themselves in trying to change nature with nurture. Men are men 4 a reason & women are women 4 a reason. U can’t change nature in ur quest to fulfill your selfish interest.

@ht8038

As a mom I would’t want the dad to stay home

@Yakitori-s1g

Sad to see a country promoting such a stupid theory as the gender gap. If you could pay 5% or 10% less a worker for the same job because she's a female, then women would have a 0% unemployment rate. Employers would stop hiring men until men and women have the same economic output for an equivalent salary.

In reality, women choose different types of jobs, that are more pleasing but less paid. This is perfectly fine, aside for feminists that are obsessed with money and measurable statistics, yet fail to understand basic economic theory.

@georgemacpherson1992

Iceland didn’t elect the first woman leader. The UK was before. Poor research from whoever did it.

@gfritlev9956

Congratulations with 400,000 Iceland, next the 0.5 million milestone population! I remember in the 1980s it was about 250 k

@junetaylor8396

God Bless Iceland – thank you Iceland for giving the rest of the world hope. Thank you men of Iceland for being role models for all the asshat idiots women contend with in the rest of the world.

@YogaBlissDance

So Italy and other countries with dropping population could learn from them, if women feel they can survive fin. and have kids then they will.

@maki9396

I want people to watch the entire video before commenting. Are attention spans that short?…

@williamkitunguzi6905

I'm on a direct flight from Iraq to Iceland
