Ghana, sierra leone and some part of Cameroon pigeon English is a little bit different but we can understand each other very well I have friends from this countries we speak pigeon and we understand each other very well.. Ghanaian girls don't speak pigeon I don't know what is wrong with them girls it's just crazy
One cannot speak pidgin with parents or elders, pidgin is mostly spoken amongst young men or students. It is mainly learnt and spoken in secondary schools not at home. Unlike Nigeria where almost everyone understood and speak pidgin.
I believe Ghanaian pidgin is like 70% similar to Nigerian Pidgin so for any intelligent individual who understands that language is dynamic and picking meaning out of language shouldn’t follow a strict set of rules, if you’re a Nigerian you should understand about 60-70% of Ghanaian pidgin. Pidgin is simply the ‘broken’ English that our forefathers who were exposed to the whites or slave masters were speaking so all Africans have some form of their own pidgin.
Nigeria pigin has now become a national language in Nigeria, it's written, it spoken by everyone, it's used in our movies (Nollywood), our music, radio……. Nigeria pigin has had great influence in Africa, n it's a mixture of English n different Nigeria languages….
GH pidgin is not precise We don't even write it . Nigerian pidgin is written and can be spoken by old people. That of Gh it can not be spoken by old people and is not official.
The guy you interview is not well vest in ghana pidgin, bye is.. catch you later,..make I throw you means let me escort you..tin up means stand up.make we choo means let's eat…adey road top means am on my way.
Ghanaian pigeon is a mixture of our local dialect such as Twi, and mostly high school jargons soo Ghanaian pigin is different to speak even among most of the youth.cus every place has it way of speaking.accra pigeon different from taadi pigin.like wise kumasi cus of the mixture of local dialect soo it very unique and good to speak among schools folk
Pidgin English in Ghana is highly spoken in the senior high schools. And its normally mixed with the local languages, Hence its unique from the Nigeria pidgin. Nigeria pidgin is Raw English, Ghana's own is complimented with the local language.
I heard pidgin English started in Sierra Leone then went across all of West Africa to Cameroon before it came back to Nigeria then finally to Ghana. Each country changes its terms and mix them with their local languages.
