    I was wondering, have you ever been to Djibouti, East Africa?? It shares borders with Ethiopia so you were not too far 😊

    I grew up there and I think you can discover interesting food and nice cultural history in Djibouti.

  3. Crying, here. I got addicted to Ethiopian food in Washington, D.C. (huge Ethiopian community). As you mention, it's a masterpiece of flavor contrasts, unbelievably complex and sophisticated. I think the butter/ghee (niter kibbeh) has something like 23 base spices, including some unique to Ethiopia.
    Drawback for newbies is lack of visual appeal. Ignore it. Taste it, and if you're a foodie, you'll be gone
