International Travel Tips Packing for Ghana (International Travel Essentials for Africa)

My sister-in-law is coming this month and needs some international travel tips on packing for Ghana. We know how that feels! We travel internationally and, at this point, have a pretty solid list of travel essentials for Africa, Europe, and Mexico.

Shalom, I am looking forward to one day moving my house hold and my family and their house holds Ghana. We will be hopefully going to purchase a house and land. Then come back and pack. We live in texas at the moment. But are we able to bring our cars and family pets as well? Did you getvthe yellow fever shot? Are they mandated on C 19 vaccine? I appreciate anything you can answer or advice. Blessings to you 🙏🏽.

Take a picture of your passport and drivers license and any other important documentation you may need to produce to your bank or any other entity that may require proof of who you are or proof of ownership back in states and SAVE IT ON A FLASH DRIVE that is not connected to any power sources. Also make sure that you use a flash drive that you can use with your computer and mobile devices. I would recommend not saving that info on your computer or mobile devices incase they get compromised. Overseas internet is not that secure and some U.S. companies won’t even let you connect to their service with certain overseas internet services because their security is so weak. I had a problem with Verizon that would not let me email anyone in the U.S. from South Africa until I got back to the states. Try and keep up with your ATM receipts because some of the people who work in the banking system overseas can see your transactions and will compromise your card. That’s what happened to me in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa and they where quick. The bank is going to want two pieces of picture I.D your drivers license and your passport before they issue you a new card. Then you have to figure out how to get your new card because the bank is not to keen on mailing bank cards overseas. Make sure you are using a reputable bank otherwise you could have a whole lot of trouble. I would suggest having two bank accounts , one where all of your money is and the one you are going to use traveling that way you can transfer cash to that card when you need it. FEDX does not deliver in Africa at least they didn’t five years ago ,and their responsibility for shipped items ends at customs so good luck. DHL is probably the better way to go although they may be more expensive.

President Joe Biden said that signing legislation into law on Thursday establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day — a US federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States — will go down as "one of the greatest honors" of his presidency.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger announced the end of slavery in Galveston, Texas, in accordance with President Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Only a handful of states currently observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday. The bill passed the House on Wednesday with a 415-14 vote after the Senate unanimously passed the legislation the day before. take care and God bless

@janicewooden9700

Thank you for good information

@kfelix2934

I would add the following for any areas in Africa and not just for Ghana

I would add power adapter that are non-120volt but dual-voltage ( 230-240v) hand wipes

if you do not care for det or neem oil, grab some eucalyptus base mosquitoe spray

a roll of sml toilet paper in your day bag ( do not expect toilet paper in public restroom)

spare phone and or battery if you have a removal battery phone type

a spare unlocked phone or a duo-SIM type, I would spend time on the plane adding the local numbers in your phone contact ( Emergency, hotel, airport, etc….)

a copy or a few copies of you passport 1st information pages ( write your hotel # on the back ) , I would also write the embassy/consulate # on the copies

For the mango-fly that drops eggs and bores into your skin, you want to iron all of your clothes if you do not have a dryer. Do not wear clothes that are air-dried only. So if your travel during the seasons at height of mangoes, this can be a problem

I would bring a spare phone memory card and specially if your current phone memory is heavily filled. You will take hundreds of fotos and make tons of video. Better to have more memory available in case your phone get's full. If you have a lot of foto/videos on your current phone memory card, dump it or off-loaded it

BONUS for Malaria and Yellow fever, you might find it cheaper at a merchant marine or port services which ships and port-worker. I got my yellow fever shot at 50 usd which was a steal. You will need your WHO immunization card when you travel to west or west-central africa

@MochaManSpirit

Thank you for this video. I can't get wait to be there in the fall!

@newyorknewart

SOOOOO – IF I SHIP TONY SOME "NEW YORK YANKEE" OR "NEW YORK" TEE SHIRTS, HE COULD GIFT THEM, OR SELL THEM, AND BE A HERO??? 🙂 (AND A FEW FOR THE TWO BOYS OF COURSE)

@peggymichele1594

I think awhile back you mentioned missing super glue. Maybe she can bring some for you. Walmart had a few on clearance in Minnesota. 😊

@gandhibaffour405

Yes in America here,always in the room.No vitamin D…….missing it

@gandhibaffour405

Hi,beautiful people, looking cute as always. I really love this traveling message.Ayo,your hair wrap is beautiful

@sharonware3147

The gifts you mention remind me of our suitcases full of gifts whenever we traveled to Ghana. They were always much appreciated. Can't wait to fill them up for our trip in December.This trip though, we're shipping some things so I'll put the gifts in the shipment, that way more gifts!
