Great to see them enjoying a good match, there is much more riding on success at their level so it's usually harder to enjoy the *game your playing*.
As the pt progresses Monfils just gets further and further behind, physically being pushed backwards & making more & more defensive shots.

A no contest. Even Monfils best ground strokes could not harm Alcaraz. I think both players knew the result even before the match started, so they decided to just have fun on court.

What a shame that Monfils has struggled so much with injuries during his career. A very likeable showman. Carlos playing really well. I think winning that Indianwells title took a big weight off his shoulder because people were constantly pointing out that he hasn't won a title since Wimbledon.

When i was younger and super serious, i despised these "playful, entertaining" exchanges.
Now that am older i appreciate Monfils a bit more and bless Carlos for being sporty with him and having fun by allowing Monfils 4gms in da 2nd set.
Their playful exchanges brought a smile to my face esp that incredible rally they had and the net cord thing all in tge 2nd set.
