  1. He say's: If no be say "yul edochie" don dey m*ss up lately.

Honestly. he'd have killed it. But then, Idris Elba is good. But na that original ""Accent" go be the problem. E suppose dey relative.

  2. HE PLAYED MANDELA IN LONG WALK TO FREEDOM. ..AND WE AS SOUTH AFRICANS ARE NOT COMPLAINING WE LOVED IT GET OVER IT THIS IS HOLLYWOOD BUSINESS… THEY NEED A STAR ACTOR TO REACH A WIDE AUDIENCE…..THEY WANT MONEY NOT TO NURSE YOUR FEELINGS AND AFRICAN PRIDE!!!!

  3. Welcome to the club, Naija/ Ghanian Brits take many roles playing black American LEGENDS. Its popularity and relationships.

Will Smith played a dark skin Serena & Venus father… I was so annoyed but with black films unfortunately they put little thought in casting.

They reserve the research and work with cash for white and white presenting historical document films.

That’s why, Nigerians make your own and that goes for crying about VMA, BET, Oscar whatever… make your OWN ‘Things Fall Apart’. Nollywood is on Netflix now, advocates… what are your producers doing… tell them to look at literary works that may put them on a bigger stage.

  4. When we are busy saying that an Igbo actor should play the role of Okonkwo in the Things Fall Apart adaptation, have we considered how many people would be interested in watching an international movie where a non-international actor is the lead? Or do we think the movie is only for Nigeria? The fact is, this is a business, and the owner of the movie wants it to reach every corner of the world. To achieve that, they need to cast an international and popular actor like Idris Elba.

With Idris Elba, more than a billion people would watch it, and the movie would still tell our history as Ndígbo. So for anyone coming online saying that only an Igbo actor can play the role properly, it simply shows they don’t fully understand what acting is all about.

Let me use Olu Jacobs as an example. He is Yoruba, but in my opinion, he portrays Igbo kings better than many others. So, don’t be surprised if Idris Elba plays Okonkwo, and people will start recognising him as Okonkwo afterward because he well he will play the role.

Moreover, nothing stops Nigerian/İgbo movie industry from producing a movie about Okonkwo or other Igbo historical stories, but instead, they keep making films about how Obinna uses his mother for money rituals.

  5. These arguments are mute, nothing is stopping Nigerians/Nollywood from producing their own film. This is are Hollywood studios putting a Hollywood star to get return on their investment, not that difficult to work out if we are being honest, except you can tell us of a Nigerian actor that has Idris ' star power.
