Idris Elba Sierra Leone Smart City – Sherbro Island Island Smart City – The stereotypical perception of Africa in the West is a tangled web of outdated ideas and limited portrayals. It often leans on images of vast, empty savannas or war-torn landscapes, ignoring Africa’s incredible geographic and ecological diversity. Culturally, Africans are…

  1. As much as I hope to see such progress in our Sierra Leone, I will believe when I start to see structures being built over there according to such a plan. I have 15 acres of land to build on out there as well. Yes it is time for we Africans to realize multi-faceted developments in Africa on our own, instead of continuing to chronically depend on loans from the west, the middle-east and the east. Agreements through which astronomical debts will be accumulated, inducing escalated neocolonial interference by nations out of Africa, especially western countries. I guess we have to stay tuned.

  2. Akon tried the same thing and failed miserably. Just saying do your due diligence and make sure this isn't a scam like akon city (Senegal)or Eko city(Nigeria)

  3. It all sounds good but for who. Where does the very poor come into all this. How many people do they intend to move from their ancestral land for these projects and so much more questions one could ask.

  4. I have no trust in him. He seems to find himself rubbing shoulders and giving speech at the WEF gathering the other day. Harbouring colonial
intentions through the back door. When are you people going to smell the rat. These holly wood and sports entertainers are programmed paid gatekeepers.

  5. Strategic selected "Black African Countries" (West, East, Central, and Southern Africa) MUST strategically establish OUR OWN AFRO DIASPORA Epicenters. (AFRO/BLACK Owned, Controlled, and Operated Afro Epicenters)

  6. Unfortunately there's no highway to this island. You have to go by boat or helicopter or they will need to build a bridge and highway to Freetown. Some new facilities would be good for the island – maybe not a huge city like they're talking about.

  7. Hope this is not going to be like that of Akon fake ambition project that didn't realise, I'm from Sierra Leone and I want true project that will benefit the people.

  8. It's great to do this especially to create insentives for more of the black African diaspora to return to Africa so I hope this is the reason for this project. If its not this, whose perception of Africa do we want to change? Because I think the people in powerful positions actually already know the beauty, the wealth and everything that Africa has and intentionally keep it hidden in mainstream media so that they can continue to exploit it as we sit back and think where we come from has a stereotypical perception. We have to be aware not to do projects to promote certain images but rather to uplift our people for real. We need to focus on projects that are actually helping Africans not just our portrayals. Our nations aren't really poor we are overly exploited and that is what we need to focus on to stop:) hope this makes sense

  9. Sounds good but is the finance in place ? and how are the local people going to benefit ? Most of the work will be done by overseas companies who will import the products and many of the workers so how will this help local people .

  10. My roots are Sherbro, Temne, and Mende. I applaud his efforts. I just hope to see them allow more partnerships from the local entrepreneurs already in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 along with the African Diaspora. This is an opportunity to build together and reconnect.

  11. Shebro island was originally belong to Liberia..the first place the ACS ( AMERICAN COLONIZATION SOCIETY 's former slaves that returned to Africa from the US.. But only 22 of them survived, and the three (3) whyte agents perished from malaria. They were later transported to Monrovia, Liberia..

  12. Those pictures should be banned, and censored. As an international student in the U S, I was disappointed how can such civilized nation depict an entire continent of 1 billion people with such limited scheme ??? Wow..hmmmmm..and on national television? What a shame ooooo😂😂😂😂😂😂. Arrogance disguised as intelligence, an absolute ignorance and bigotry??? Kla be ne 'x. Cheyoooo

  13. Who is funding this? We don't want any investment from the US, UK, France and Germany. Otherwise, I'll have my Houthi friends put an end to that apartheid colonial project. No western bases or new colonial outposts in Africa.

  14. A wonderful opportunity for growth and development, wonderful! Africa finally gets some investment attention and it couldn't have come at a better time, as we are dangerously close to recolonization! Hoping that this public-private alliance could be replicated in other African Countries! Yes, we are excited!👋
    Africa is looking forward!

  15. That's all good but to really change the perception he would need to corner the mainstream media and showcase what Wode Maya shows when it comes to African countries he can also make movies and shows in African countries and cast local actors. And tell local stories. And broadcast it to the world…true or definitely true?
