Countries are exploited because their total income comes from natural resources. The government has no motivation to grow or broaden their exports… the leaders feed off that one resource. The bottom line is the corrupt governments have to implement capitalism. Unfortunately if they do, people can remove them from their thrones, because now it’s not just the dictator who has money. If the west won’t trade with us fair trade then we will do business with our African brothers and sisters on the continent of Africa. I would like to see Liberia get rid of its American looking flag and have one that looks like it belongs to Africa. Maybe after that Liberia will break free from all western countries and build its own economy. I can see this country doing well in its rubber industries and with all other raw materials processed in Liberia. Africa is looking good and getting better as it stands on its own efforts.

Any time any country … especially Western countries come to Liberia or any other African country to "buy" something … Don't sell anything without knowing what it's for and how to make it yourselves. If they agree to build a factory .. only make the lease for under 20 years with the agreement that you will be shown how to build a similar factory yourselves for domestic sales. If they renegotiate at the end of 20 years then you should be "entitled " to a larger percentage. Do this until you own the business and offer them a percentage for royalties. That's a win win . But you must enter from a position of strength .. all the while if you don't spend the profits wisely and not to corruption , you will fail.
