  1. maybe certain part of africa . i am from ghana. it’s done different. you may return the plate empty but still continue to share. it’s does not matter who has more to share . it’s about what available to be shared. I also never values how precious our culture is until i moved to the west. it’s just individualism and somewhat selfishness. It’s explains why there are more depressed people / people dealing with different types of mental instability ( i am not mocking. just stating what i observed) . riches means nothing after all. what matters is love and care after all.

  2. I was so confused by this when my neighbor took some tacos home (I made too much and she's nice and has three children) she brought my Tupperware back filled with amazing food. I sent her and her children a bunch of snacks

  3. Yes, there's an African courtesy we are taught: "never return an empty plate". The only time we got an empty plate was when our parents sent US (my siblings and I) to get the plate from an elderly lady (our neighbor) who did not have a family, so we delivered her food and picked up the empty plate 🙂

  4. My momma taught me this , if someone gives you a dish with something in it, you’re supposed to give the dish back with something in it. Love to see where it came from
