maybe certain part of africa . i am from ghana. it’s done different. you may return the plate empty but still continue to share. it’s does not matter who has more to share . it’s about what available to be shared. I also never values how precious our culture is until i moved to the west. it’s just individualism and somewhat selfishness. It’s explains why there are more depressed people / people dealing with different types of mental instability ( i am not mocking. just stating what i observed) . riches means nothing after all. what matters is love and care after all.
I was so confused by this when my neighbor took some tacos home (I made too much and she's nice and has three children) she brought my Tupperware back filled with amazing food. I sent her and her children a bunch of snacks
Yes, there's an African courtesy we are taught: "never return an empty plate". The only time we got an empty plate was when our parents sent US (my siblings and I) to get the plate from an elderly lady (our neighbor) who did not have a family, so we delivered her food and picked up the empty plate 🙂
Love you two so much ❤️
The same thing is done in Indian culture, never send anyone’s dish empty , always full plates . 😅
What a wonderful culture.. imagine what this world would be like if we all did alittle bit of kindness like this
So loving!
Very nice
My momma taught me this , if someone gives you a dish with something in it, you’re supposed to give the dish back with something in it. Love to see where it came from

We do the same in India. Never return something empty. Lovely video.
I want to be neighbors with you guys!!!
Man, what a great tradition. My American neighbors borrow something and then never give it back at all.
We have that custom. We had to fill the plate to return it because if you do you will have an empty plate afterward
This family is beautiful and inspired. This is the family structure we need to preserve. The respect and love they have for each other.
Typical ubuntu. We do this as well.

We have the same thing in Algeria we never give back things empty )))
Sounds good but I would get stuck in a loop and constantly have to think of things to top my last offering 😂
Most Asian countries do this. We always try to send it in a bigger dish so u get lots in return

Even in South Indian culture we never return empty utensils or vessels….we put something or the other
