Nothing mysterious at all. There is a difference in density, salinity, and maybe even temperature between the two rivers. The same happens for oceans. There is a difference between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans where they meet.

What's your "discovery" here? Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean flow beside each other, and do not mix up. It has a scientific explanation, devoid of religion or myth. They don't mix with each other because the two water bodies flow under two different pressures, even though they run parallel to each other.
