  1. At first when i looked at the title, i thought the brother needed a hot back-handed manly slap for refusing such a job. But then as the story unfolded, i realized the wife needed to rethink her position.

A manager or director position back home is often not the same as in the west. I met some directors of I.T back home and these folks were doing less than 30 hours a week…here, they work a minimum of 80 hours a week, handling complex projects.

So this brother probably knew where he stood. The wife can let him climb the career ladder slowly.

Other than that, i honestly do not think i can move into a woman's house and start the relationship on that basis…recipe for stress. Maybe i am wired different, but the moment a man puts himself into that level of subservience, he should expect all kinds of backlash from the wife later on…. especially if she is earning more than you.

It could have been better if teh wife moved back to Nigeria instead. The brother was well set after all…but who knows..

  2. Speaking the truth. A lot of people want high paying positions and can't do the jobs. Interpersonal skills are not up to snuff and their phone etiquette is raggedy .

It's very hard to work with people who do not have the skill set required to do an effective job as required. How do you call yourself an accountant and can't use Excel? It happens all the time believe it or not. Lol.

Eventually the honeymoon ends and the truth comes out for them. I hate to see them do the walk of shame when they've been handed their pink notice and that famous banker's box to clear the desk of their personal effects.

What I tell people at work, especially those with similar hues, is if you know this is not for you be honest and move on. Don't let them get rid of you.

  3. Firstly I think she had no business marrying him in the first place. He was already settled in Nigeria but we know how some women are hung up on making a show of everything so she did that to prove she could still marry. Secondly I don't beleive in coddling grown men's feelings. He knew when he left that doing jobs he was not accustomed to was a possibility. Usually when you start something new after doing the same thing in and out for so many years its going to be hard. Personally I don't see how being a business analyst is so much more harder to do than being managerial staff at a bank unless he didn't do his job at the bank too well and was protected due to nepotism. Both positions are tied closely to the corporate sector. I know someone who after having a humanities degree for so many years and working in administration not going anywhere took her husbands advice and did Accounting. Initially she hated it however as soon as she finished her qualification it opened a LOT of doors for her to some well paying jobs. She realised that life was not always about what you like off the bat and sometimes sacrifices have to be made to get to the things you really want. Right now she has a business with good income where she no longer feels stressed.

  4. You have to be a Subject matter expert aka SME in an IT job you're doing. As soon as you tell them you don't know something or unsure? They'll get rid of you quick. Seasoned IT guys can tell straight away if you're legitimate or a fraud.

  5. Phrankleen, never mind this Bible thumpers. Many of them are crooks, call God's name, but are some of the meanest folks, who call on fire and brimstones for their 'enemies', or who they consider enemies. We move on, tell the truth people, be kind, stop trying to live up to the Jones's. Phrankleen, there are Many black people who are doing well and live below their means. That's right, not everyone can be in certain professions.

  6. You are correct. I'm a Registered Nurse with a Masters degree. I didn't go into the profession for the money. A good nurse has to have what it takes; apathy, caring, smart(in the sciences, communication, literature etc.). Not All people who are 'nurses' should be in the profession. Again, there are nurses and then again there a 'nurses'. There are Advanced Levels going into Professorship. These are the levels of nursing: LPN only takes one year school and training. There's Diploma School RNs, not much anymore. Then Associate Degree RN with 2 years college training; 4 years Bachelor of Science Degree (4 years of college and training), Masters Degree (M.A or MS) additional 2 years college/university training; Directors of Nursing, Doctorate Degree additional college training to be a Professor. I have had to fire nurses( with help of Human Resources for poor behavior towards patients, theft of patient, Meds., falsification of patient signatures, giving very poor care and on and on. Some nurses have had to take the State Board Exams several times before eventually passing, many attempt to cheat and were fired on the spot. The stories I could tell! Embarrassed to see how some folks have been desperate to become 'nurses', without the understanding of the requirements and Dedication it takes. Being a Nurse RN requires studies in Science, math, literature, Quality patient care! So now, many nurses now transfer over to home care(visiting patients in their homes to deliver care). Must be trained for that. Cameras are all in patients homes and many thefts and mistreatment of patient provided for immediate dismissals and Loss of license.( nurse/ healthcare worker didn't know cameras were up)🤷‍♀️ Iloved my more than 22 years in this profession, because as a child, I wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. My cousins went to Medical School and Law😄. When you love what you do, the money comes, your professionalism shows through and the offers are thrown your way because Respect and Trust is around you. No one forced me to be in this profession, I just knew. Listening to Phrankleen speak about folks who push to get into nursing because of what they considered as plenty money. This is why, poor practioners do Not last long, because they are not in it for good reasons, because many have poor communication skills, not empathetic or skilled. I hired and fired. I was sometimes embarrassed at interviewees, who showed up to be interviewed coming from their night job in inappropriate attire. I had to dismiss the person. There are fantastic Nursing Professionals out there but some? That is why there are Disciplinary Actions ,very vigorous that are in place and HR doesn't play in established and Renowned Health Organizations. I'll write a book soon!😀. Thank you again Phrankleen for this video today! I have several friends who watch you now👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
