This is NOT a story that I’m proud to share with you, but nonetheless, it’s very important that it gets told.

This trip of traveling across West Africa in our own vehicle has been a nightmare in pretty much every…

  1. You guys have to understand you were in Africa, the officials are gonna test you, always stand your ground even if they handcuff you. Tell them you don’t have a problem being held as long as you can contact your embassy

  2. Drew am sorry about your experience. I am a Sierra Leonean living in Massachusetts. I hope you will visit Sierra Leone again and experience the best of Sierra Leone. My apologies and hope I can host you in Sierra Leone. Do forgive their ignorance 🙏🏽🙏🏽

  3. Stop talking nonsense here.
If it were in your own country,
You will treat us(black) worse than these. What ever wrong, we Africans are doing, was copied from you and from your country.
It has never been an easy move for Africans to enter any of the continents in the world and you are here talking rubbish.

  4. Bribes are common in the developing world, not just in West Africa. I paid hundreds more than this when living in México over 25 years ago to get everything in order via the gov't for my business: work visa, stuff out of customs, etc. It's just how it is, and yes, the corruption is bad for everyone. It normally doesn't happen to tourists there, though. While in Morocco, the car I was in was stopped by the police at a checkpoint in an urban area as rental cars have special plates (that tips them off that you are foreign, although I was the only one who was). Pay the cop a small bribe and off you go. Just don't let it deter you.

  5. “Things need to change if they want to progress in this country.” This is so true being stated in the video😢… May God make us realize this and change for the better

  6. I’m a Sierra Leonean currently in Britain well not the best parts of the uk I was going to visit Sierra Leone again until I heard military barracks were attacked and airspace was closed and there was a curfew going on but I apologise on behalf of my people

  7. So sorry. You are brave to be driving from Liberia to Sierra Leone especially as foreigners. I don't know how many Liberians or Sierra Leoneans would do that. Even when in Cote d'Ivoire, armed police harassed local taxi drivers taking and to and from the airport.

  8. When things like this happen, and they do happen a lot, the person getting the bribe relies on their being no follow up. When you are forced to pay a bribe make sure that afterwards a follow up letter or email is sent to the appropriate person, manager, supervisor, department or the person responsible for governance or travel in that region, area, country etc I don't judge the people soliciting the bribe too harshly, because they are probably paid a pittance, but plenty of their countrymen and other Africans feel real shame when they hear these stories of travellers being mistreated and made to pay a bribe. It's important to try and address this and follow up so it can at least have a chance at being changed.

  9. You are ABSOLUTELY correct Drew! I got scammed in Sierra Leone twice back to back! Corruption is a huge problem in that part of the world! And its not only in West Africa but in East Africa too. These places need to change their mindset in order to progress! #allfacts

  10. not only in africa. it happened to us to while covid they said the vaccine has to be older then 2 months while it was 2 weeks when entering serbia from hungary. we had to pay 100 euros

  11. How is it your this great world adventurer but you can’t even correctly pronounce the names of cities and countries? Your commentary is meandering and often nonsensical. And you seem to focus mostly on negative things. Like two typical spoiled , stupid Americans.
