Sassy, I need to let you know that the email I sent to these people was ignored and I never received any response from the comptroller general. It shows how non functional Nigerian system could be when it comes to attending to official responsibilities!

If you only have a residence permit in the country you are living in, can you use that to go back to that country with an expired Nigerian passport?

I don't have a British passport yet, but my BRP is valid until 2027.
I'll be visiting Nigeria on the 15th to return on 28th March with British Airways. My passport is due expire on 15th April, have done my renewal since 13th February but I haven't received it yet. I want to know if I will be allowed back to the UK with a passport that will be expiring in 18days time?
