Regarding the comments that this recipe is not authentic South African Fudge because it contains wheat flour.
Those comments are incorrect.
You cannot get more authentic than recipes from “Huisgenoot” magazine (edited by Annette Human).
The book “Huisgenoot Wenresepte 2” (Wining recipes 2) (published 1984) has a recipe submitted by H.Gous (from Empangeni) that has 140g “koekmeelblom” (cake flour).
That same recipe was reprinted in “Die Beste van Wenresepte” (The Best of Winning Recipes)
While Cake Flour may be an unusual ingredient for “Authentic Traditional SA Fudge”, its use has certainly been well documented.

Okay 1. Way too much sugar used and 2 you don’t use flour. You use golden syrup and vanilla extract

By the way, if you take that can of sweetened condensed milk and (unopened) boil it (covered in water) for three hours, you will get what we Norwegians call HaPå, a caramel spread to put on your bread.
(Condensed milk isn't often the topic, so for once I could finally share my random knowledge of it)
What's the texture like? I guess "fudgey", but is it that hard kind, the "kind of crumbley" kind… Chewey? Dangnabbit, guess I have to make some.
