That looks absolutely amazing. Thankyou for sharing. One question though……when's dinner?😂
I didn't know native Americans had flour or baking powder. So this is just European unleavened bread fried.
Thank you
I make fry bread but, mine taste like baking powder. No matter how little of the baking powder I use it still tastes like baking powder. What am I doing wrong?
Not very traditional because before European contact, they did not have wheat to make flour to make Navajo fry bread so what did they use before that probably corn that would be traditional and that’s the recipe I would prefer to see
It sure looks good & easy to w
My Mother and Grandmother used to bake bread every two weeks. When they did this they always set aside some dough for fried bread. It never ceased to be a treat that we looked forward to. Honey, hoemade jam, butter, whatever you wanted to put on. It was delicious, I had it in the back of my mind, but now I am going to have to start making it again!
WHERES THE BEEF/MEAT???
How much dry milk (considering there is protein and lactose, what happens when you add dry milk)? What type of oil do you use to fry? Thanks!
Also….do you have a video for how you make your beans?
My mom would make some every time she baked bread. We would put butter and sugar on it as a treat
As you were rolling it what were you dipping it in off camera to your right?
I just want to know: what kind of "grease" do you frie the dough in?
The bread looks delicious. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
I did not see how much dry milk to put in. Please help me🙏.
I'm SIOUX and I grew up with fry bread. It was a staple. I miss those days on the Rez with Grandma.
Indian fry bread was invented by a white man. When Indians received their first allocation of flour, lard and salt after relocation, they didnt know what to do with it. A Bureau of Indian Affairs agent thought up the recipe and now it has its current popularity
very nice video keep it up!
"Navajo"? — that's Chinese style. Well, nobody should be surprised because the Native Americans are remote relatives of the Chinese.
I grew up in LatAm and my grandma would make this. I always thought it was poor people's meal. Didn't know it was something that native Americans also eat in this country. We just ate it like that, without any toppings. Usually with some tea or coffee.
Thank you for this recipe. I'm going to premix the dry ingredients and take it on the trail with me.
Having lived in southeast Arizona several years, we often had Apache frybread. We traveled north through to Canyon duche, Chinle to Four corners. Sometimes up to Showlow. Get Navajo fry bread wherever we could find it. My wife made it but while stretching it dropped hers. OOPS, good laughs her and the ladies prepping for gatherings. Nothing like frybread and blade steak. Shake powder sugar on a piece, better than cake for dessert. Thank you for sharing a tradition that needs shared and kept alive.
