This is good. My grandmother use to do something like this when I was a kid which make me wonder if this is a tradition passed down to African-Americans from hundreds of years. What we do differently is to season the lamb/mutton over night & before we brown in the pot.
When I was in Guinea Equatorial, I use to run to corner store and get the peanut puree and make this for my guardas that live on the property that I rented. I could go to the Malians and get slaughter goat every other Friday ,and would make a Goat Mafe like stew. It's truly one of my favorite dishes and I hate to say, I could a good plate or two of it also.
