Here’s what I would do. The laws in Ghana πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ about living on the land is relaxed compared to the United States so you have a lot more options than us living on the land with out the police bothering you.
1. I would dig a borehole to access to clean water on the plot. Water is the essential to life so having access to clean water to drink, cook, wash and clean is a must. This will take your savings down to about 38,000 Ghana cedis.
2. I would buy US army issued Modular General purpose tent. These tents prices are about $1500 which in cedis is 17,000. These tents are extremely durable and will last 20 years plus. This tent has vinyl windows and is good for long term use out in the field. You can even run lights and even a ac unit to this tent and it will last decades. Buy buying the tent, it will solve the be problem of rent if you don’t have a place to stay or are trying to save that money for your house build. At this point you should still have 21000 cedis in savings remaining.
3. If your going the tent route I would definitely pay someone to watch my new living quarters while I work to build my house. Make sure thieves don’t tamper with my investment.
4. I would definitely be building a small style house that you can add on in the future. There is no point of trying to build a medium or large home. You will do better building a tiny house where you can add on to it later if need be you start a family. But believe or not those US issued army tents can house a small family with no problems.
Now here comes the fun part which is budgeting, you said in one of your videos that the average Ghanaian makes between 2000 and 5000 cedis so we can say 4000 is a good number to put at savings per month. The average tiny house can be built for about $25,000 to $40,000 so we will say $30,000 is a good number. So 340,000 to 350,000 cedis will build you a livable tiny house. So with 4000 cedis savings a month you can build a house in 7 years comfortably with no pressure and major bills.
